The second day Zunheboto District Jubilee celebration Blessing Service was held on November 12 at Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto with G. Ikuto Zhimomi, Advisor Land Resources as Guest of Honour and Dr. A Sukhato Sema MLA as Special Guest.

 

I Nikheto Jimomi, President, Sumi Hoho while delivering the keynote address informed that the Sumi Hoho has declared the day as Sumi Prayer Day, aligning to Ahuna, a post harvest celebration. He also urged the Sumis to honour auspicious celebration like these with cultural attires.

Ikuto Zhimomi while addressing the gathering as the Guest of Honour recalled the creation of Zunheboto District where Sumi elders came together to support the Sumis during the creation while adding that they left aside the differences and were united and therefore, “we must also unite”. He reminded that the Zunheboto District Headquarter has only 7 kilometres and therefore the community should envision to expand farther to 25 kilometres in the coming 25 years. Zhimomi also called upon the citizens to vision the existing Town Council to Municipal Council, and to make Zunheboto a tourist destination.

To achieve all these, the advisor urged, the gathering to leave aside their ego, clannism and all isms and be United.

MLA Dr. Sukhato A. Sema while speaking during the program drew parallels of Jerusalem to Zunheboto District adding that Jerusalem was the centre of the world and Zunheboto the centre of Nagaland. He highlighted how the neighbouring Districts were growing in many aspects and urged the citizens of Zunheboto District to give their best and give space for growth. Sema also called upon the citizens to focus on quality education, health infrastructure and economic growth.

 

“There is power in numbers and there is power in unity. So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth and stressed that they should envision unity, should be real and that the power of unity itself says ‘we are interconnected’, “ stated Sema.

Earlier the program was chaired by Dr. Vihuto Asümi, Gen Secy. Sumi Hoho, Invocation pronounced by Vihokhu Jimo Asst. Pastor ZTSBC, Special Song presented by ZTSBC choir and SBCZ Choir, Dr. Hutton Sumi Pastor SBCZ delivered the message and Benediction pronounced by Kughavi Chishi Pastor NCRC Zbto. Olivika and Likhulu were the comperes.
