A seminar on “Oral Health Care and the Ill Effects of Tobacco Use” was conducted for parents and guardians of Grace Academy School, Thahekhu village, on June 2. The event, held at Grace Academy School, marks the first of its kind under the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) Dimapur specifically targeting parents and guardians.

NTCP Dimapur Psychologist Imkumla Aier delivered a presentation highlighting the importance of oral hygiene and the harmful consequences of tobacco consumption. Following the seminar, a consultation on oral health care for students and oral cancer screening for the attendees was held.
A total of 45 parents and guardians volunteered for oral cancer screening, during which one case of a pre-cancerous lesion was detected.
The screening and consultations were carried out by a medical team led by Dr N Moa Jamir, District Nodal Officer (NTCP) Dimapur, along with Dr Sanen Longkumer, Dr Khriesi Sogotsi, and three supporting medical personnel.
