The 11th Phom Monyiü Open Volleyball Tournament was inaugurated at public ground, Longleng on 24th October 2023 under the theme “Grit, Geeta, Glory”, DIPR informed. The tournament is organised by Longleng Town Students’ Union.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Y. Shingli Phom, PA to DC Longleng emphasized on the importance of sportsmanship and the decline and moral character. He called upon the players to avoid the use of drugs and other alcohol. Phom also encouraged the gathering to work supportively and cooperatively to stop the menace of drug use in the society.

During the opening ceremony, former president O Phomngai Mukho, acknowledged the present LTSU executives for initiating such an event marking the significance of (Pang mo) post-harvest festival. He also narrated the roots of the tournament and encouraged the participants to represent the game in true sportsmanship.

Matmei Phom, presented a special song and S Longnyei Buchem, administered the oath taking.

Earlier invocation was pronounced by Chingkhong E Phom, assistant to Women Ministry Longleng Town Baptist Church and A Angmaü Phom, President, LTSU, delivered the welcome speech. The program was chaired by Bingmei Phom.
