14th National Voters’ Day celebrated at Wokha and Bhandari

Wokha: ADC appreciates dedication of BLOs in registering and enrolment of eligible voters

Along with the rest of the nation, the 14th National Voters’ Day was observed at Wokha and Bhandari sub-division on Thursday under the theme “Nothing like Voting, I Vote for Sure”.

In Wokha, K Furhesie Nyuwi, Additional Deputy Commissioner & Electoral Registration Officer in his speech reminded the gathering that National Voters’ Day is celebrated annually on 25 January since 2011 marking the foundation day of the Election Commission of India. He stated that the day aims to encourage people’s participation in elections, felicitating young voters and increase voter enrollment.

Nyuwi said that the theme conveys an individual’s feeling and aspirations towards participation in the electoral process through the power of their vote. He concluded his speech by congratulating all the young and new voters who will be voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha election for the first time.

Nyuwi also congratulated the best Booth Level Officers awardees and appreciated their dedication in service towards the registration and enrollment of each and every eligible voter of Wokha district.

38 A/C BLO, Orenbomo Tungoe speaking on behalf of the BLO’s encouraged everyone to remember our right to vote as it is not just a privilege but a great responsibility that shapes the destiny of one’s own nation. He also urged the gathering to renew commitment to the values of democracy ensuring light of liberty and justice continue to shine brightly.

Students from various schools and colleges participated in the programme. Earlier, Message from Chief Election Commissioner was displayed to the gathering.

First time voters were also felicitated in the programme while certificates and cash prize were handed to the Best BLO awardees. EVM demonstration was also demonstrated to the students.

During the celebration, best BLO award were presented by EAC & AERO 37 Tyui A/C. The awardees included: 37 Tyui AC Augustin Odyuo, 38 Wokha AC Orenbomo Tungoe, 39 Sanis AC Likao Lotha and 40 Bhandari AC Rabenthung Kithan. Later the participants which include students were given hands on demonstration about EVM.

Bhandari

At the Conference Hall, ADC Office, Bhandari, Longdiba L Sangtam, ADC Bhandari said that National Voters’ Day was initiated in 2011 to commemorate the foundation of Election Commission of India to empowered with duty and responsibility in electing the right leader, He also encouraged the young voters to get enrolled and express their right by taking part in the election process in the form of voting.

He congratulated the BLOs in the sub division for their contribution and tireless efforts in the election process. Awards was presented to Best BLO Rabenthung Kithan, 40/6 Tssori old and felicitated the newly enrolled voters. The ADC Bhandari administered the voter’s pledge.

Short speech was delivered by Tachow Lotha President, BTLH. Kilangtemsu EAC Bhandari chaired the programme.
