22nd NSF MMT: Headhunters FC and FIFA FC to face off at the quarter-finals

Kohima: In the round of 16, Headhunters won 8-0 over Chedema United FC; FIFA FC won 6-0 over Nagaland University Students Union (NUSU) KC; plus new match fixture for 20-24 October

Headhunters FC and FIFA FC emerged as the winners in today’s matches at the ongoing 22nd NSF Martyr’s Memorial Trophy at IG Stadium.

The round of 16 began today with Headhunters FC playing against Chedema United FC in the first match and FIFA FC against Nagaland University Students Union (NUSU) KC in the second.

The two winning teams will face each other at the quarter-finals.

Headhunters FC vs Chedema United FC

Headhunters won 8-0 over Chedema United FC in the first match.

The first goal for Headhunters was scored by Haotinmang (jersey no 21) at the 18th minute through a penalty kick.

Samson (jersey no 9) netted a hat-trick at the 24th, 29th and 65th minute.

Chingsha (jersey no 10) and Pursunep (jersey no 15) also added to the score sheet at the 40th, 70th, 74th and 80th minute.

The Man of the Match was awarded to Samson of Headhunters FC. The award was handed by Visanyüzo Kuotsu, NSF MMT organising committee member.

FIFA FC vs Nagaland University Students Union (NUSU) KC

In the second match, FIFA FC defeated Nagaland University Students Union (NUSU) KC 6-0.

L Benjohnson of FIFA FC (jersey no 17) registered a double hat-trick, scoring six goals at the 18th, 30th, 37th, 40th, 43th and 77th minute.

FIFA FC will face Headhunters FC in the quarter-final stage.

This will be a rematch for the two teams. In the last edition of the NSF Martyr’s Memorial Trophy, FIFA FC lost against Headhunters FC 2-1 in the semi-final match.

The Man of the Match was awarded to Ngulgoulal Kuki of FIFA FC. The award was presented by Roko Angami, President Nagaland Football Coach.

Match fixture rescheduled

The fixture for the remaining matches of the NSF MMT 2022 has been rescheduled, the organising committee informed today.

While conveying its sincere regret to the general public, the committee said the matches beginning from 20 October have had to be rescheduled due to the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the public rally to be held at IG Stadium thereafter.

The timing for all matches from pre-quarters to the semi-finals on 23 October are as follows:

Day matches – the first match will be at 10am and the second at noon.

Night matches – the first match will be at 4pm and the second at 6:30pm.

From 21 October onwards, the ticket price will be Rs 100.
