22nd NSF MMT: Red Scar FC and Phesama Youth (PYO) progress to the next round

Red Scar FC and Phesama Youth (PYO) won the matches on Saturday at the ongoing 22nd NSF Martyr’s Memorial Trophy at IG Stadium.

Red Scar FC vs Thepfüko Krotho

Red Scar FC defeated veteran team Thepfüko Krotho FC 14-0 in the first match of the day.

Thepfüko Krotho are the oldest veteran team in the tournament – a combination of two church dominations who came to promote the beautiful game of football despite their age difference. The name Thepfüko Krotho roughly translates as ‘men’s fellowship’ in Tenyidie

Facing against the youngsters in the match, however, the veteran team suffered a heavy defeat as they failed to stop Red Scars from scoring. Though they were defeated heavily, they were contented at the end of final whistle accepting the defeat.

Elminhao Kilong led the score sheet for the Red Scars with four goals. Lalsiem Chonloi scored a hat-trick while Neikethozo Yhome and Medoneituo scored two goals each. Khrielatuolie, Talisunep and Vikehielie added one goal each.

The Red Scars progress to the next round with this win.

Vekhrüto Resu of Red Scar FC was awarded the Man of the Match. The award was handed by Vizokho Zhashümo, former ASU President and present ASU Tribunal member.

Phesama Youth (PYO) Organization vs 12 Tribes United FC

In the second match, Phesama Youth Organization (PYO) won 9-0 over 12 Tribes United FC.

Vikehiezo Mejura from PYO scored a hat-trick with goals at the 25th, 55th and 57th minute.

Theja Chuse and Keleze Chuse added two goals each while Nekehiezo and Neisaletuo also netted a goal each.

The Man of the Match was awarded to Viravoto Seleyi and the award was handed over by Sedeneikho Sosahie, ASU Senior Leader.

Launch of ASU XI official jersey

On Saturday, the Angami Students’ Union XI official jersey was also launched for the Exhibition Match.

The ASU XI Official Jersey was launched by Sedeneikho Suosahie, former Vice President ASU & Chief Manager ASU Seniors FC at IG Stadium, Kohima.

ASU XI will clash with Range United FC on 23 Oct at 1pm.
