The 26th Inter-District & State Table Tennis Championship 2023 is set to take place in Mokokchung from October 23 to 26. Teams from 12 districts of Nagaland, including the host district Mokokchung, will participate in the tournament.

In a press conference held on Thursday at Nine-Ten Restro, Mokokchung, officials from the MDTTA and the organizing committee provided details about the upcoming championship.

Aosunep Ozükum, the Convener of the organizing committee, announced that more than 110 players are expected to participate in the championship, representing 12 districts in the team event, while more than 50 players are expected to compete in the Open Category.

The championship’s opening ceremony is scheduled for October 23 at 4 PM, with Imkong L Imchen, MLA & Advisor, Govt. of Nagaland, serving as the Chief Patron. The Nagaland Table Tennis Association will provide Trophies, Cash Prizes, and Certificates to the winners.

One of the highlights will be the release of a Coffee Table Book by the President of NTTA during the event.

Ali Walling, President of MDTTA informed that the tournament will feature both Inter-District team events which will feature male and female categories and a State Open event, including singles and doubles competitions across various categories, categorized by age groups. These categories comprise Men’s Singles and Doubles, Women’s Singles and Doubles, Youth Boys and Girls (Under 19) Singles and Doubles, Junior Boys and Girls (Under 17) Singles and Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Sub-Junior Boys and Girls (Under 13) (Only Singles), Veterans 40+ (Singles and Doubles), and Veteran 50+ (Only Singles).

Food and lodging for district players participating in the tournament have been arranged by all District Associations. The organizers has invited the citizens of Mokokchung and nearby areas to be part of the event.
