27th Varsity Cultural and Literary Meet 2026 of NVSU begins

The 27th Varsity Cultural and Literary Meet 2026 of the Nagaland University Students’ Union, Lumami, commenced on April 8 at I Ihoshe Kinimi Hall with great enthusiasm and cultural spirit. The inaugural session was compered by Ikutsa Achumi and Moalemla Chang.

The programme opened with a prayer by Eziza Sumi, followed by the address of the Chief Guest, Dr Abemo, Registrar of Nagaland University. He emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage while embracing modernity, a theme that resonates strongly with the ethos of such meets, and encouraged the students to remain rooted in their traditions while exploring new avenues of expression.

Presidential Address by Toito V Zhimomi, President of the NUSU (L) reflected the collective aspirations of the student community, highlighting the significance of unity, creativity, and cultural pride. He urged students to actively participate and make the most of the platform provided by the varsity meet.

Cultural performances added vibrancy to the session, including a Western Group Song by AIU representatives. The performance added a contemporary musical touch, showcasing the versatility and talent of the participants, along with a captivating Wangala performance by “The Meghalayan,” showcasing the rich traditions of the Northeast.

The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ilhima H Yeputhomi, followed by the Nagaland University Anthem and a closing prayer by Laam P Lam, marking a meaningful start to the varsity meet.
