The NagaEd, in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, held the annual orientation training and certification ceremony on April 9, marking one of the final milestones of the Learning Enhancement and Accessibility Project (LEAP), which is set to conclude in June 2026.
Launched in June 2023 under the NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts Programme, LEAP aimed to bring quality digital education to one of Nagaland’s most remote districts. Over three years, the project has transformed teaching and learning practices across 15 schools, both Government and Private, in Kiphire, covering Classes 9 and 10.
Founder of NagaEd, Kevisato Sanyu said LEAP was never about placing technology in a school and calling it transformation, but it was about sitting with the teachers and students of Kiphire, understanding their aspirations and building something that genuinely served them.
“When a teacher in a remote village becomes a champion of digital learning — not because she was told to, but because she chose to — that is the kind of transformation we set out to achieve,” he remarked.
Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer, NCS said it was encouraging to witness the steady progress being made in improving learning outcomes and classroom practices in Kiphire as the LEAP Project entered its third year. He said the continued collaboration between implementing partners and the district administration has been key to sustaining this momentum.
Situated in eastern Nagaland bordering Myanmar, Kiphire is among the NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts identified for focused development due to challenges such as unreliable connectivity, limited teaching resources, terrain that isolates communities, and a persistent gap between what the curriculum sets out to teach and what classrooms are equipped to deliver.
LEAP addressed these gaps by introducing a curriculum-aligned digital learning system in Mathematics and Science, tailored to the NBSE syllabus and aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
All participating schools were equipped with internet connectivity through 5G routers, while over 35 teachers received structured training and sustained support — refresher sessions, blended learning demonstrations, one-on-one troubleshooting, and direct access to subject matter experts through a dedicated WhatsApp channel.
To ensure continuity despite connectivity issues, offline learning materials and graded test booklets were also provided to keep students on track.
The project introduced innovative approaches such as “Prerequisites” modules to strengthen student’s foundational knowledge before they encountered new syllabus topics, freeing teachers to focus on deeper instruction rather than returning to the basics.
More than 1,200 students and 35 educators benefitted from the initiative.
EAC Kiphire, Takatemjen Pongen, NCS said the LEAP Project has demonstrated how effective coordination between schools, administrators and implementation teams can lead to meaningful improvements in the education ecosystem.

Over three years, LEAP has established reliable, continuous access to curriculum-aligned learning across 15 schools, reaching 1,200+ students and 35+ educators.
Teachers have moved beyond introduction to active adoption, choosing to integrate digital tools into how they teach, assess, and support their students. This shift is reflected in platform engagement, which grew by 155% within a single academic session, from 7,370 minutes in April 2025 to 18,836 minutes by February 2026, driven primarily by teacher-led usage.
