NDPP, 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency, has on Tuesday, complained to the District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, against the claims of possibility of booth capturing in the constituency as alleged by the Congress Party.

The Congress on Monday submitted the Chief Election Officer in Kohima a list of 12 Assembly Constituencies in Nagaland where the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) may be planning booth capturing on 19th April 2024.

The NDPP unit of 29 Jangpetkong A/C condemned this move and stated that it is “shocked and perturbed by this wild allegation” and asserted that throughout its campaign trail for the PDA consensus candidate, they “have always stressed and advocated for free, fair and peaceful polls in the constituency.”

The party claimed that the allegation is a “well-calculated strategy of the Congress party to vitiate and malign our party, with the malicious intention to gain unfair advantage by creating fear psychosis in the minds of the electorate.”

Further, NDPP 29 Jangpetkong A/C appealed to the DEO to notify NPCC “to produce proof and substantiate their allegation before the polling date”, failing to do which, the unit will seek legal remedies against NPCC, it said.
