Juggernaut CC and Rising Star have booked their berth for Semi-Finals at the ongoing 29th T20 Winter Cricket Challenge held at the Local Ground in Wokha, organised by the Senior Noble Klan, under the aegis of the Nagaland Cricket Association.
In the first quarterfinals of the match played between Juggernaut CC and Thyüshong TDC, Juggernaut CC won the toss and opted to bat setting up a target of 150/8 in 20 overs. Juggernaut CC rode on the innings of Gaurav 46 runs with the help of Nayan Hazarika 20. The bowlers of TDC bowled tight overs but the fielders of TDC had quite the opposite innings. The top bowlers for TDC were Ntsenlo Semp 4-0-25-2 and Gideon Khing 4-0-27-2.
Chasing the target of 151, TDC’s top order crumbled to the brilliant bowling attack in the form of Toshimanen 3.3-0-20-3 and Alamo 4-0-19-4. The top scorer for TDC was a tailender batsman in the form of Gideon Khing 28* not out, who was the lone batsman to score 20+ runs for the team. He was backed up by Henry Kent’s quick knock off 17 runs. TDC were bowled out on a mere score of 99/10 in 17.3 overs.
Juggernaut CC won the match by 51 runs. Toshimanen was adjudged as the Man of the Match for his all round performance.
In the 2nd quarter-finals of the match played between Rising Stars vs Mayangnokcha CC, Rising Stars won the toss and opted to bat setting up a target of 118/10 in 20 overs. The second match of the day turned out to be a rather low total scoring match. Dipu Gogoi and Janbemo Kikon stayed in the middle to keep the scoreboard clicking infront of a tidy bowling attack. Mhonbemo Kithan was the pick for the bowling attack 4-0-16-3, followed up by Merenkaba Jamir 4-0-22-2.
Chasing the low scoring target Mayangnokcha started the run chase on a commanding order with Among Vijay contributing 27 runs in a quick time before he was dismissed by Renbemo in the 5th over. Apart from Vijay, only Mhonbemo was the batter who went on to score 15 runs not out.
The second match was quite a bowling show as the bowlers bowled tight length and line creating tension in between the wickets. The top bowlers were Renbemo Jungio 4-0-15-3, paired up with Chonben Kithan 3.1-0-27-3, apart from these two bowlers Hayithung also bowled an impressive over in the much needed time. The nail biting match was decided only on 19.3 overs where MCC were bowled out for 112/10 in 19.3 overs.
Rising Star won the close match by just 5 runs, and booked their place in the semifinals. Renbemo Jungio was adjudged as the Man of the Match.
