The Organising Committee of the Inter High School and Higher Secondary School Basketball Tournament BAMD under the aegis of Basketball Association Mokokchung District (BAMD) would organise the 2nd edition of the Inter School & Higher Secondary School Basketball Tournament from August 5 to 7, 2026 at the BAMD Basketball Court, Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
The decision to host the tournament was finalised during the 1st organising and sub-committee meeting held on June 19, where members deliberated on the tournament schedule and other related matters.
The tournament, themed “Forging Future”, aims to nurture young basketball talent and promote the sport at the grassroots level. The event is envisioned as a platform to provide school students an opportunity to showcase their skills while also encourage sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, and leadership among the young athletes.
The tournament is open to all high schools and higher secondary schools within Mokokchung district, including schools from towns, villages, and subdivisions. Schools from outside the district who are interested in participating are also welcome to join the tournament.

It may be mentioned that during the previous edition, four districts outside Mokokchung had shown interest in joining the tournament. For the upcoming edition, the organising has extended the invitation to interested schools beyond the district to take part.
The organising committee informed that the objective of the tournament is to strengthen basketball development among students and provide a platform for healthy competition, skill enhancement, and exposure. The association further informed that the tournament will be conducted as an annual running trophy event.
The committee also informed that coaching support would be provided to schools upon request, with mentors available to assist teams in their preparation for the tournament. Registration details, tournament guidelines, and fixtures will be shared in due course.
