35+ Mokokchung Football League Season 5 Kicks Off

Mokokchung: Revenant FC, Wasang FC and Terokroker FC win matches on first day

The much-anticipated Season 5 of the 35+ Mokokchung Football League Kicked off today at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung today. Limanungsang, President of All Ward Union Mokokchung Town (AWUMT), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

In his address, Limanungsang hailed the league’s role in promoting camaraderie, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and physical fitness, particularly for individuals aged 35 and above. He lauded the organizers for providing a platform to inspire individuals to step out of their comfort zones, build relationships, and stay physically active.

Highlighting the football game enjoyed by the whole world, Limanungsang emphasized its ability to transcend boundaries and bring people together. He expressed optimism for a successful season ahead, noting the league’s dedication to hosting matches exclusively on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the year.

Jamonger, Additional Director, Food and Civil Supplies, GoN welcomed the participating teams, including Revenant FC, Terokroker FC, New Ecclesia FC, Wasang FC, Trebuchet FC, and Senso FC. Jamonger reiterated the league’s commitment to promoting health and mutual respect among players, emphasizing the individual ownership and collaborative spirit that defines the tournament.

He also informed that this season marks a shift to a single-season format, with approximately 20 matches scheduled to determine the champions of the 35+ MFL Season 5.

The first match of the league, featuring defending champions Revenant FC against New Ecclesia FC, ended in favor of Revenant FC with a score of 2-0. Rongsenchiba, wearing jersey number 10 for Revenant FC, netted the first goal in the 3rd minute, while Temsutoshi, donning jersey number 7, scored the second goal for Revenant FC in the 59th minute to secure their victory in the first league match.

In the second match of the day, Wasang FC faced off against Trebuchet FC, with Wasang FC securing a 4-1 victory. Tsupong, sporting jersey number 18, struck first in the 20th minute for Wasang FC to lead the game, but Moakaba, wearing jersey number 8 for Trebuchet FC, equalized the score to 1-1 in the 23rd minute. Tsupong then scored a brace for Wasang in the 35th and 54th minutes, followed by Chubamanen, wearing jersey number 17, scoring in the 50th minute.

The last match of the day witnessed Senso FC against Terokroker FC. The match was won by Terokroker FC with a score of 1-0, with Yapang in jersey number 13 finding the back of the net in the 56th minute to seal the game.
