The 4th Metümnyo Festival Football Tournament, organised by Sangphur Village Students Union, in Association with Shamator District Football Association (SDFA), sponsored by Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland, kicked off on August 46 by Athrong Yimkhiung, SDO (C), Shamator,

Athrong Yimkhiung thanked the organiser for giving a platform towards the young football aspirants and he hoped that under the guidance of SDFA, the boys will elevate to the bigger platforms. He also appreciated SDFA and urged them to do more to catch up with other states.

The SDO also said that in sports talent alone cannot achieve one’s goals but with hardworking, sacrifice and with proper coaching, it will ensure a bright future for the children.

Solumba, Vice President of the SDFA acknowledged the Sangphur Village Students Union for organising the tournament successfully. He also assured that the best of the best amongst the players will be selected to team Shamator District to represent in the forthcoming inter district Dr T Ao tournament, which is to be held in Mokokchung from October 12 – 30. He also encouraged the players to display utmost discipline and follow the rules of the game by maintaining the spirit of the game.

Earlier, Shokheamong President Sangphur Village Students Union pronounced a warm welcome and the program was dedicated by Rev. Z. Thsankiu Pastor, Sanghur Village Baptist Church.
