The Sangtam Union Saksi NAP Sector celebrated Mungmung Festival with an array of vibrant cultural activities on 4th September at the Auditorium Hall, 3rd Battalion NAP, Tuensang.
Chief guest, Yangtipi Sangtam, first class contractor, graced the 53 years of celebration and extended his greetings on the occasion. He signified that culture is one’s identity and underscored the importance of preserving it.
Mungmung Festival is celebrated from 1-6 September every year and each day has different significance. It is celebrated to commemorate the season of blessing, brotherhood and harvest, emphasising the importance of sharing and unity.

Yangtipi Sangtam encouraged the Union to live in solidarity and uplift each other as the union motto, ‘Akehda khu Tsongdiri’ (Defence Through Unity) befittingly proclaims the Sangtam community to strive towards the progress and development to be at par with the other Naga communities.
Earlier, the event was hosted by Vidila, Assistant Professor, SCC Tuensang and Yangtipi.T, R Akhum Pastor SBL Saksi pronounced invocation, welcome note was delivered from Beho, Vice President, Sangtam Union Saksi, melodious voice from college students Sangtam Students Union Saksi.

The event was followed by a cultural display, cultural games, men’s troop dance and folk songs presented from Heri culture group.
