The 6th Dimapur District Inter-Departmental Sports meet commenced at Multi-Disciplinary State Stadium, ADC Court, Dimapur on 20th November 2024. The opening ceremony featured Col. Ullas Badoni, Commandant of the 43 Assam Rifles, as the Guest of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, Col. Ullas Badoni praised the participants’ enthusiasm and the vibrant environment created by the various departmental teams. He acknowledged the dedication shown by the employees and commended the organizers for promoting a healthy balance between work and recreation. Col. Badoni highlighted that sports, play a crucial role in fostering team spirit and mental well-being. He stressed that such events provide not only physical benefits but also an opportunity to relieve stress and enhance productivity.
Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, extended a warm welcome to the participants, he emphasized the importance of bringing employees together to build stronger bonds across departments. He noted that the sports meet provides a platform for interaction and teamwork, which is often missing in routine office schedules.

Chang also announced a mass social work initiative scheduled for 22nd November, urging departments to actively participate in cleaning highways and public spaces.
The sports meet will include various games, like table tennis, football penalty shootouts, tug of war, badminton and carom board for both men and women, fostering friendly competition and teamwork. The event is set to conclude on November 22nd with a prize distribution ceremony.
