The 80th Independence Day was celebrated across Nagaland on August 15.
KOHIMA:
The official function of the 80th Independence Day 2026 was celebrated at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, Kohima on August 15, with Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, hoisting the National Flag, receiving the Rashtriya Salute, inspecting the parade and delivering the Independence Day address. The March Past featured contingents from various security forces, police units and other organisations.
The parade was led by Parade Commander Akihito X. Chishi, NPS, Deputy Commandant, 1st NAP and Alovika Swu, NPS, Assistant Commandant, 12th NAP, serving as the Second-in-Command. The participating contingents comprised the 13 Assam Rifles Battalion, 78 Battalion CRPF, 105 Battalion BSF, Arunachal Pradesh Police (IR), DEF Kohima, 4thNAP Battalion, 10th NAP (IR) Battalion, 15th NAP (IR) Mahila Battalion, Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF and Ex-Servicemen.
The parade also featured the Nagaland Police Central Brass Band, PTS, and the Nagaland Police Auxiliary Brass Band of the 4th NAP Battalion, along with the 13 Assam Rifles Pipe Band and the 15th NAP (IR) Mahila Pipe Band. The contingents marched past the dais in a disciplined formation adding to the ceremonial grandeur of the Independence Day celebration.
The celebration also witnessed the announcement and presentation of various awards and medals to distinguished awardees.
The President’s Police Medal for 2026 for Distinguished Service was awarded to Videlalie Zashumo, Inspector General of Police, while the Police Medal for Meritorious Service was awarded to Limasunep Jamir, Inspector General of Police.
The Governor’s Gold Medal for the year 2026 was awarded to Masudong, NPS, AIGP (Admin), PHQ; Livitoli Sukhalu, NCS, Deputy Secretary, P&AR; and Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü, Wrestler (Naga Traditional Wrestling).
The Medal for Meritorious Service as announced on Republic Day 2025 was presented to Shouka Kakheto, NPS, Deputy Commandant; Zasilie Angami, Sub-Inspector; and Metseirovi Sakhrie, Naik. The medals announced on Independence Day 2025 were also presented to Kevithuto Sophie, IPS, IGP, and Aboli Metha, NPS, Commandant.
The Governor’s Gold Medal as announced on Republic Day 2026 was presented to Chubasangla Longkumer, NSS, Joint Secretary, Home Department; Er K Tingtenmoie Konyak, Executive Engineer, Electrical Division, Mon; Dr Micheal Imti Imchen, Deputy Director, Veterinary Hospital, Dimapur; Dr Wobenthung M Kithan, Medical Officer, Chukitong PHC, Wokha; E Aphak Konyak, UBI, DEF Mon; and Abemo Ezung, ABSI, Narcotic Branch, PHQ.

The programme featured an enthraling performance by Living Voices, Dimapur, under TaFMA, who sang an original composition titled “Sümi Xülhe”. There after a cultural attire display titled “Threads of Naga Heritage: Many Tribes, One Nagaland” by the NSSA Cultural & Aesthetic Club.
TUENSANG:
Along with the rest of the country, the 80th Independence Day was celebrated at Parade Ground, Tuensang with Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Tourism and Higher Education as Chief Guest. On the arrival, the National Song was sung and the Minister hoisted the National Flag followed by Rastriya Salute and singing of National Anthem and Inspection of Parade.
After the Minister delivered an Independence Day speech, singing of National Song and National Anthem was followed by March Past from DEF Tuensang, 3rd NAP Tuensang, Village Guard Tuensang, Ex- Serviceman, NCC SCC, NCC St. John Higher Secondary School, GHSS Hakushang, GHSS Tuensang, NCC Akhum Imlong School, St. Joseph School, Baptist Thangyen School, NCC PM. SHRI GHSS Thangjam, 3rd NAP and Hauhyang Chuba Pipe Bands. The Parade Commander was led by Dr. Akash Sinha IPS, SDPO Tuensang and 2nd In- Command L. Lanu Akum Chang ABI Tuensang.
Minister Temjen Imna Along handed over the District Commendation Awards and Best Farmers Awards. He also inaugurated exhibition Stalls set up by ATMA, Agriculture Department, Land Resources Department, Sericulture Department, Horticulture Department, Fishery Department, Veterinary Department, Forest Department, KVK, Government Polytechnic Sedem, Election Department and District Legal Services Authorities.
Other Entertainment Programme included Band Display from 29th Assam Rifles Tuensang, Cultural Presentation from Chang Ün Cultural Troupe and Sangli Cultural Troupe, Special Presentation from St John Higher Secondary School and Wela Foundation School Tuensang.
In the evening Exhibition Football match was played at Loyem Memorial Astro turf Ground, between DC XI and TDFA.
LONGLENG:
The 80th Indian Independence Day was celebrated in Longleng with Minister of Road & Bridges, G. Kaito Aye, as the special guest at the public ground Longleng.
The special guest hoisted the national flag, followed by a Rashtriya Salute from the 11 parade contingents led by parade Commander District Command Home Guards & Civil Defence, Chibeni Ezung. The highlights of the day-long programme included a special song presented by P Manchai Phom, and the demonstration of Taekwondo followed by a Folk Dance and Cultural item by Tangha cultural troops.

In Phek, the 80th Independence Day was held at Local ground, Phek with Advisor, Water Resources, Government of Nagaland, Tongpang Ozukum as the Special Guest.
The Special Guest hoisted the National Flag, took Rashtriya Salute, inspected the parade ceremony and delivered the Independence Day speech. National Song and National Anthem were sung followed by March Past by the parade contingents led by the Parade Commander Mayangchiba Ao, NPS, Assistant Commandant. The five parade contingents were DEF Phek, 5th NAP, Nagaland Home Guard & Civil Defence Phek, Ex-Servicemen, 39th Assam Rifle with Pipe Band.
Special guest inaugurated the Exhibition Stalls put up by twelve various departments and Self-Help Groups at the program.
Shothilu Dozo, Asst. Prof. and Shekhohu Asst Prof. of Phek Govt College were the Comperes of the celebration. Government employees, Public, GBs and NGOs attended the program.
KIPHIRE:
Along with the rest of the country, the 80th Independence Day was celebrated at Public Ground, Kiphire, with Advisor, Department of Science & Technology, Kuzholuzo Nienu as the Special Guest.
The event began with a parade review by the Superintendent of Police Kiphire, Chinese Chakhesang, NPS. The Chief Guest hoisted the National Flag, inspected the parade, and delivered the Independence Day speech, and took the Rashtriya Salute, led by the Parade Commander, Imlitemjen Chang, Assistant Commandant Coy 3rd NAP Kiphire. The parade contingents consist of 30th Assam Rifles, 30th Assam Rifles Piped Band, DEF Kiphire, 14th NAP (IR), NVG Kiphire Village, Zisaji Presidency College/NCC, Bharat Scout & Guides, Trinity School, and Loyala School.

Aerobic Drill by Agape Higher Secondary School Kiphire and Maa Tujhe Salaam by Lisula. Other highlights of the programme include Folk song by Thangthur Women Fellowship and Folk Dance by Taimetong Club Kiphire Town Tikhir, and Kiphire Town Sumi Totimi Loka.
The Chief Guest also inaugurated the exhibition stall set up by various departments and Self-Help Groups.
Later, the exhibition football match was played between United Viking Club and Sporting Club Kiphire Village. As part of the occasion, NStCB Ltd, and SBI Kiphire visited the Shalom Children’s Home, and District Jail, Kiphire. The programme was compered by T. Shumong Tikhir, Asst. Professor and Bolito K Achumi, Asst. Professor both from ZPC, Kiphire.
The programme concluded with the Beating of Retreat by DEF, Kiphire.
NIULAND:
Niuland District celebrated the 80th Independence Day at Niuland Public Ground with Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor, School Education Government of Nagaland as Special Guest.
Dr Yhome hoisted the national flag and took Rashtriya salute from five different continents, with Nokin Longkumar ACP Niuland as parade commander. The program includes singing of National Song, National Anthem, inspection of parade contingents and Independence Day speech by the special guest.
The celebration also featured the presentation of district awards to five progressive farmers in the district. The awardees were, Vitoho Shohe, Silkworm- rearing farmer from S. Vihuto Village; Toiho Awomi, Soybean farmer from Vizheto Village; Tokato Sema, mushroom cultivator from L. Vihoto Village; Tozato A. Aye, piggery farmer from Kuhuboto Town and Toli, strawberry farmer from Shitoi village.
The program also witnessed spectacular demonstrations from Niuland Pencak Silat Association and cultural presentation (Sumi war dance) from Suhoi village.

DIMAPUR:
The Dimapur district celebrated the 80th Independence Day at the District Sports Stadium (DDSC Stadium), with Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Government of Nagaland, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, as the chief guest.
The ceremonial programme commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag and the taking of the Rashtriya Salute, followed by inspection of the parade and the Independence Day address by the chief guest.
The parade contingents was led by the Parade Commander, BHM, Havildar Khekato Sema. A nine- parade contingents participated including the Police Commissionerate, Dimapur; Home Guard, Civil Defence and SDRF; Ex-servicemen; NCC Dimapur Government College; NCC Greenwood Higher Secondary School, Dimapur; Scouts and Guides of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Dimapur; MGM Higher Secondary School, Dimapur; and the 15th Assam Rifles Band Platoon.
The programme also featured the presentation of District Award to 10 officials in recognition of their outstanding performance and dedication towards public service. The program included a series of cultural performances- Patriotic dance presentations were performed by PM Shri GHSS, Burma Camp, and Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, while folk dances were presented by the Dimasa Kachari Cultural Troupe, Bamunphukhuri, Dimapur, and Tsunrun Yimkhung Cultural Club, Dimapur.
Meanwhile, as a part of the celebration, Minister Kruse also inaugurated exhibition stalls showcasing various activities and initiatives by government departments and agencies. The exhibition showcased participation from the Government of Nagaland, including the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Horticulture, the District Rural Development Agency, the Department of Industries and Commerce, the Nagaland Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation, the Department of Health and Family Welfare, the Department of Cooperation, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, the Directorate of Information and Publicity, and the Dimapur Police.
The day-long programme concluded with prize distribution, followed by the ceremonial retreat conducted by 15 Assam Rifles.
CHUMOUKEDIMA:
The District Administration, Chmoukedima, organised the 80th Independence Day celebration at Sammagooting Stadium, DC’s Office Complex, Chumoukedima.
Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Village Guards, C L John, graced the occasion as the special guest. The programme commenced with the fall-in of parade contingents, followed by the National Song, after which the National Flag was hoisted with Rashtriya Salute and the National Anthem was sung. Minister C.L John inspected the parade and delivered his Independence Day address.
District Commendation Awards were presented to Kevineinuo Rio, District Programme Officer, Social Welfare Department, Chumoukedima, Hotolu G. Sumi, Junior Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department, Rural Division and Weprepeu Losou, Computer Operator, DCP Office, Chumoukedima in recognition of their distinguished services.
The celebration featured a march past by the participating contingents, led by Parade Commander, DYSP Virielhouilie Miario. The contingents comprised of 1st NAP Platoon, 22nd Assam Rifles, Ex-Servicemen, Patkai Army Wing, Patkai Air Wing, Government Higher Secondary School, Chumoukedima, Mount Mary College, St. Joseph University and Pipe Band, 22nd Assam Rifles, followed by cultural performances by the Angami, Sumi, Ao and Sangtam Cultural Troupes. A PT drill was also presented by Blue Star Higher Secondary School, Singrijan.
As part of the programme, the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Chümoukedima, released the Strategic Research and Extension Plan (SREP) 2026, Compendium of Activities 2025-26 and Indigenous Technical Knowledge (ITK) in Agriculture. The district-level ATMA Farmers Award 2026 was also presented to five progressive farmers from Chümoukedima, Dhansiripar and Medziphema blocks in recognition of their contribution to farming and allied activities.
The Office of the District Project Officer, Department of Land Resources, also felicitated the dignitaries with Nagaland Coffee during the celebration.
Later, Minister, CL John inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by various departments, including the Department of Agriculture, Department of Horticulture, Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission, Department of Sericulture, and Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Sciences, Department of Fisheries, DRDA, Election & DHEW.
The programme was attended by Government officials, students, civil society organisations and members of the public.
ZUNHEBOTO:
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated at Zunheboto headquarters with a series of programmes held at the Local Ground. The celebration was attended by Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi, as the Special Guest.
The celebration commenced with the arrival of the Special Guest, followed by the singing of the National Song, hoisting of the National Flag, National Anthem, inspection of the parade and the Independence Day address by the Special Guest.
The programme featured a march-past by various contingents, which was led by parade commander Assistant commandant Bokivi (NPS) 8th NAP Naltoqa, Zunheboto. The parade contingents include the District Executive Force, Zunheboto, 8th NAP, Naltoqa and Ex-servicemen.
The programme followed with District awards which were awarded to Home Guard Civil Defence and SDRF Department and 18 other individuals from various departments. And also 8 Farmers from zunheboto district were awarded District Level Farmer Award with certificate and cash prize.
Special number was presented by Lighi K Awomi of GHSS Zunheboto and a women’s folk dance by the Sumi Totomi Loka (STL) Project Colony (West).

The minister inaugurated the exhibition stalls which were set up by six departments under Zunheboto district and a Camps of Medical department, Jan Sunwai and Mission Vastsalya was set up.
The programme was compered by Assistant Professor Nitokali V Chishi, Zunheboto Government College (ZGC) and Asst. Professor, Achok M Konyak, ZGC.
The Zunheboto Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ZCCI) visited the District Hospital, while the State Bank of India (SBI) main branch Zunheboto visited District Jail and the Social Welfare Department visited Orphanage Home Sukhalu. A football exhibition match was held between DC XI and Sumi Hoho XI. The day’s celebrations concluded with the beating of retreat by the District Executive Force (DEF) Zunheboto, in the evening.
PEREN:
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, Peren, with patriotic fervour.
The programme commenced with the singing of the National Song, followed by the hoisting of the National Flag by Deputy Chief Minister, National Highways, Planning and Transformation, T.R. Zeliang, who attended the celebration as the special guest. The flag-hoisting ceremony was followed by the Rashtriya Salute and singing of the National Anthem.
TR Zeliang thereafter inspected the parade contingents and delivered the Independence Day address. The ceremony concluded with the singing of the National Song, Rashtriya Salute and National Anthem.
The parade was commanded by Dy. SP, 9th NAP (IR), Saijang, Ronvungthung Yanthan, with ABI, DEF Peren, Toviho Sema, as the Parade 2nd-in-Command. The contingents comprised personnel from DEF Peren, 9th NAP (IR), Saijang and the Ex-Servicemen League, Peren.
District Commendation Awards were presented in recognition of outstanding contributions and achievements. The awardees included Medical Officer (Ayush), District Hospital, Peren, Dr. Avika P Jimo; Head Pharmacist, District Hospital, Peren, Hosea Apon; and Operation and Maintenance Staff, Power Department, Peren, Rangbambo.
ATMA Awards were also presented to Veineihoi Sitlhou of Ahthibung Village for piggery farming; Imlinungla Imti and Athini of Jalukie Town for Integrated Farming System; Hezumbuing Ngaubui of Ndunglwa Village for ginger cultivation under Peren Block; and Namik Chewang of Tening Village for Mithun farming.
The celebration featured cultural presentations by the Jalukie B Hornbill Dancing Troupe and Ahthibung Cultural Troupe. A special song was presented by Bamile Pame, winner of the Northeast Adolescent Fest 2019.
TR Zeliang also inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up as part of the celebration.
Following the main programme, institutional visits were undertaken to the District Jail, Peren; District Hospital, Peren; and Children Home, Peren. The visit to the District Jail was coordinated by Peren Town Council, the visit to the District Hospital by IRCS, Peren, and the visit to the Children Home by DHEW and SBI, Peren.
The Independence Day programme commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag at government offices, residences and institutions across the district followed by the review of the parade by the Superintendent of Police, Peren.
The day-long celebration concluded with ceremonial retreat by the DEF Peren.
Rangbambo, staff of the Operation and Maintenance wing of the Power Department, Peren, was conferred the District Commendation Award on the occasion.
TSEMINYU:
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated at Tseminyu with Healthy & Family Welfare Minister, P Paiwang Konyak.
Addressing the gathering, Konyak announced that the Department of Health & Family Welfare has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, seeking approval for the establishment of a new Greenfield AIIMS at Nagaki City, Chümoukedima.
The Minister said the proposal envisages the establishment of the premier medical institution on approximately 200 acres of land at Nagaki City.
Highlighting the Department’s ongoing public health initiatives, Konyak said the Government continues to intensify efforts towards achieving a TB-Free Nagaland in line with the National Strategic Plan for Tuberculosis Elimination. In collaboration with the Department of Rural Development, he informed that 214 villages across the State were declared TB-Free on the occasion of World TB Day this year.
The Minister further stated that, as part of the Government’s commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage and ensuring 100 per cent Ayushman card coverage among eligible citizens, the Department launched the 100-Day Ayushman Student Coverage Mission across all districts in May 2026.
Upon arrival, the minister hoisted the national flag and took Rashtriya Salute. Two parade contingents, 4th NAP and ex-Servicemen Tseminyu participated on the occasion. The minister also handed out presentation to the district commendation award to three recipients and also inaugurated the exhibition stall.
MOKOKCHUNG:
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with grand pomp and patriotic fervour at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex in Mokokchung.
Metsubo Jamir, Minister for Rural Development (RD) and State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Government of Nagaland, graced the occasion as the Special Guest. Upon his arrival, the national song was played. The Minister then unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya salute from the marching parade contingents, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. He also delivered the Independence Day speech.
To mark the special day, the Minister handed out the District Commendation Awards to nine individuals. These citizens were recognized for their exceptional dedication, outstanding achievements, innovation, leadership, and meaningful service to the Mokokchung district and its people.
The impressive march past was commanded by Zareni Yanthan, NPS (Asstt. Commandant, 2nd NAP Bn. Alichen), with ABI Tekatemjen SM (RHQ Mokokchung) as the second-in-command. The Band Party from the 12th Assam Rifles provided the musical rhythm for 11 diverse contingents.

Following the formal proceedings, the Special Guest inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by various government departments. The celebration also featured vibrant, colourful cultural dances and performances by the Mangmetong Cultural Club, the Gorkha Union Mokokchung, and Longtrok Senden Ungma.
The evening session brought sports excitement to the stadium with an exhibition football match played between the DC XI and SP XI, alongside a thrilling penalty shootout event. The historic 80th Independence Day celebrations in Mokokchung concluded beautifully with the traditional Beating of the Retreat ceremony.
WOKHA:
Wokha district joined the rest of the country in celebrating the 80th Independence Day with a series of programmes at the Local Ground, Wokha on August 15. Advisor for Agriculture, Government of Nagaland, Mhathung Yanthan, attended the celebration as the Special Guest.
The celebrations began early in the morning with the hoisting of the National Flag across government offices, institutions, official and private residences, shops and business establishments in the district.
As part of the observance, institutional visits were undertaken at 7:00 a.m. to the Senior Citizens Home under Wokha IRCS, Founding Harbour Children’s Home supported by Team Metamorphosis, Morning Star Children’s Home under WDCCI, District Jail through the Lotha Eloe Hoho, and Dr Motsuo Memorial District Hospital, where SBI Wokha Main Branch participated.
The main programme at the Local Ground commenced with the arrival of the Special Guest, followed by the National Song and hoisting of the National Flag. Yanthan took the Rashtriya Salute as the National Anthem was played, before inspecting the parade contingents.
In his Independence Day address, Yanthan highlighted the significance of the occasion and the collective responsibility of citizens towards the progress and development of the nation. The programme also witnessed the presentation of District Awards and Commendation Certificates to individuals recognised for their outstanding performance and dedicated service.
The District Awards were conferred on Thunglamo Humtsoe, Operator, Office of the District Public Relations Officer, and Yanpothung Mozhui, Peon, Office of the District Agriculture Officer.
Commendation certificates were presented to T Nchumbeni Lotha, UDA, Office of the Deputy Commissioner; Dziesengunuo Dominica Solo, Staff Nurse, Dr Motsuo Memorial District Hospital; Chuba Ezung, Sanitation Driver, Wokha Town Council; and Khehoe Sema, MTS, Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bhandari.
The parade, commanded by SDPO Wokha Sangthing Khiam, NPS, featured personnel and students from DEF Wokha, 7th NAP, Home Guards, NCC 24th Nagaland Battalion, NCC Mt Tiyi College, Ex-Servicemen, Scouts and Guides, and various schools in Wokha. The Fernbrook School Band Party accompanied the parade.
Adding colour to the celebration, the cultural programme featured the folk song ‘Lijon Ro-jon Enyan’ by the Female Cultural Club, Wokha Village, and the folk dance ‘Ekhyo Shari’ presented by Fernbrook School, Wokha.
A number of departmental and community stalls were also inaugurated by the Special Guest. The stalls showcased products, services and activities of various government departments, farmers’ groups, Self Help Groups and village-level organisations, including KVK Wokha, Agriculture, Horticulture, ATMA, Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Social Welfare, Wokha District Legal Services Authority, Wokha Circle Federation and other participating groups.
The day’s programme continued with an exhibition Sepak Takraw match between Carmel Boys and Isaiah Hostelers, followed by prize distribution. The celebrations concluded with the Beating of Retreat by DEF Wokha at 4:00 p.m., bringing the district’s 80th Independence Day observance to a close.

Deputy Chief Minister & Border Affairs, Government of Nagaland, Yanthungo Patton, graced the 80th Independence Day celebration 2026, at Local Ground, Mon as a special guest.
The programme began with the singing of the National Song. The special guest unfurled the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem. Thereafter the special guest inspected the Parade contingents and read out the 80th Independence Day message. Singing of National Song and National Anthem follows with a March Past by 10 parade contingents. Later, he inaugurated the Stalls set up by different societies and departments.
Activities of the programme include cultural songs by KNSK, Wagim ward. Special Numbers “Thrive by Yangman Luklim and “Rise Up” by Phangmei Yanlem.

M. Chongti Khiamniungan, Asst. Prof. Wangkhao Government College and Yinai Konyak, Asst. Prof. Wangkhao Government College were the comperes of the Programme.
As a part of the celebration, National flags were Hoisted in all Government Offices & Educational Institutions and Parade Review by the Superintendent of Police, Mon. Other activities include institution visits to District jail by 100 RCC GREF; District Hospital Mon by NHIDCL; Orphanage Home by Water Resource Department, Mon; Old Age Home by F & CS (Supply) Office, Mon; District De-Addiction Centre, KBBB by NHIDCL. Tug of war, Inter-Departmental Penalty Shootout was also conducted in the evening. The daylong celebration culminated with Prize Distribution followed by Display of band and Beating of Retreat Ceremony by the 6th NAP Pipe Band.
SHAMATOR:
Shamator celebrated the 80th Independence Day with Bashangmongba Chang, Minister, Housing, Mechanical Engineering, Government of Nagaland as special guest. After the National song, the Minister hoisted the National Flag, followed by inspection of the parade contingents, and delivered the Independence Day speech followed by National Song and National Anthem. Later the Minister inaugurated the stalls set up by different departments.
The Minister also presented the district awards to Thsangchingla, Staff Nurse CHC Shamator; H. Kihomong, MTS DC’s office Shamator; S Thsanso Yimchunger, Sangphur village Horticulture sector; Tosangla, Sangphur village Sericulture sector; Y. Along with the rest of the nation, Noklak celebrated 80th Independence Day at Noklak HQ, Public ground.
Advisor, Social Welfare Government of Nagaland, Wangpang Konyak hoisted National flag and took Rashtriya salute from eleven continents at Noklak Hq .
The parade contingents was led by Parade Commanders, Rilise Sangtam ‘D’ COY COMMANDER – ABI 3RD NAP Noklak; Parade 2 I/c – ABSI Pengthang, DEF, Noklak; Parade CHM – Havaldar C Peyan 3RD NAP Noklak; FLag Bearer – Havaldar Sanu Sangma 3RD NAP Noklak and Stick orderly – Monglon Muchiu
During the event, the Best Farmer Award for the year 2026 was conferred upon three outstanding farmers, C Langshen Khiamniungan from Noklak Block for Transforming Livelihood Through Arabica Coffee, Shahoto from Thonoknyu Block for Subsistence Farming to a Model Integrated Farm, and Khaoshai from Panso Blocks for Integrated Farming for Sustainable Livelihood.
Wangpang Konyak also inaugurated the exhibition stall set up by various departments and Self Help Groups ( SHG) . Later He also flagged off the Agri-Link Transportation Truck which is a special initiative by the District level implementation and monitoring Committee to provide logistic support to the local farmers, promote entrepreneurship and generate employment under Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Initiative. A total of 15 vehicles for the district were launched. He also flagged off Har Ghar Tiranga Rally.

The 80th Independence Day was celebrated at the Local Ground, Meluri, with Advisor, NSDMA and Inland Waterways, Z Nyusietho Nyuthe, as the Chief Guest.
The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Chief Guest, followed by the Rashtriya Salute, National Song and National Anthem. The Chief Guest inspected the parade contingents and addressed the gathering.
The ceremonial parade was led by Parade Commander Vedupe Lasuh, NPS, Assistant Commandant, 5th NAP Meluri and Rovi Krocha, ABI, 5th NAP Meluri, as the Parade 2nd-in-Command.
The parade contingents comprised Village Guards of Phor Sector, Ex-servicemen; Village Guards of Lephori Sector and the NVG Pipe Band of Meluri.
On the occasion, the MLA & Advisor also administered the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan pledge, encouraging the gathering to collectively commit themselves to creating a drug-free society. The pledge reaffirmed the collective commitment to preventing drug abuse, promoting awareness and supporting the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat (Drug-Free India).
The celebration also featured Cultural presentations by the Khumiasü Cultural Group (Women) and Riehuope Cultural Group (Men) adding colour and vibrancy to the celebration.

Hoisting of National Flag in government offices/institutions, singing of National Song and National Anthem were the highlights of the daylong celebration. Students, government officials from different departments, Councillors of Chozuba Town Council, GBs and people from neighbouring villagers joined the 80th Independence Day ceremony.
TENING:
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at Tening, Peren, with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tening, Neilezo Tep, NCS hoisting the National flag with the National Song, followed by Rashtriya Salute and the National Anthem. He also delivered the Independence Day address,
The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag at government offices and institutions across Tening at 6:00 AM. The programme was compered by Kaibakram, PT GMS, Nzau Namsan.
The celebration witnessed the participation of government officials, personnel and members of the public, reflecting the spirit of patriotism, unity and collective commitment towards the progress of the nation.
AGHUNATO:
Along with the rest of the Nation, Aghunato sub-division under Zunheboto district celebrated the 80th Independence Day at ADC’s office premises, Aghunato. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Aghunato, Kikato K Chishi hoisted the National flag and latter read out the Independence Day speech. He also inaugurated the exhibition stalls put up by various SHGs initiated by the department of Agriculture to encourage the farmers to showcase the organic vegetables.
Highlights of the occasion include a presentation of special songs by Elohim Kindergarten Aghunato and Holi Kiba.
TIZIT:
The 80th Indian Independence Day was celebrated at ADC’s Office Premises, Tizit, Mon. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tizit, C Phuniang, hoisted the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute.
The highlights of the celebration included Independence Day speech by ADC, Tizit, National Anthem by Wangnao Yato, Patriotic item by Mendan Konyak and sweet distribution by Functional Manager, Industries, Tizit.
The day was also marked by hoisting of National Flag in all government Offices, Educational and Private Institutions.
NOKSEN:
Noksen celebrated the 80th Independence Day with SDO (C), Noksen, Tuensang, Khiongmong hoisting the National flag and read the Independence Day Speech. The SDO (C) took the Rashtriya salute from Alpha coy, 3rd NAP. The programme also witnessed the special items presented by the students of Government High School, Noksen and Noksen Town Wedoshi Thangjam.
The programme concluded with a performance from the Kongkin Folk Fusion.
CHANGTONGYA:
Along with the rest of the Country, the 80th Independence Day was celebrated at Changtongya sub-division, Mokokchung with SDO (C), Changtongya, Sangpangchang as the Special Guest. The Independence Day Programme started with singing of the National song Vande Mataram.
SDO, Sangpangchang Hoisted the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute presented by OC Police Station, Changtongya followed National Anthem and Independence Day speech.
PFUTSERO:
Along with the rest of the country, Pfutsero HQ, Phek celebrated 80th Independence Day at the office of the ADC’s Pfutsero. ADC Pfutsero, Mhalo Humtsoe, NCS hoisted the National flag and took Rashtriya Salute and read out the Independence Day message.
Other highlights of the programme include display/playing of National song, National Anthem, hoisting of national flags in all Government offices and educational institutions. The programme was compered by Teithuvina Nukhu and Chothazo Nienu both Assistant Professor of PGC. The program culminated with the beating of Retreat by SDPO, Police Station, Pfutsero.
The program was attended by Government officials, Town Council, Administration, public leaders, GB’s and Dobashi’s etc.
MONYAKSHU:
The 80th Independence Day was also observed at Monyaksu Sub-division at the SDO (C) office premise, Monyakshu Headquarter, Mon. The SDO (civil) Monyakshu, C. Wangan hoisted the National flag, took the Rashtriya Salute presented by NVG, Changlangshu village and read out the Independence Day speech.
The Baptist High School sang the National Anthem. The program was attended by the Government employees, GBs, DBs, and general public.

Longkhim Sub-division, Tuensang celebrated the 80th Indian Independence Day at ADC’s office premises with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Anoka H Assumi as the special guest.
The special guest on his arrival hoisted the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute performed by Longkhim Police Personnel and delivered an Independence Day speech.
The celebration was marked by playing of National Song and National Anthem.
TULI:
Tuli Sub-Division, Mokokchung, celebrated the 80th Independence Day 2026 at ADC’s Office premises with ADC, Tuli, Imsenperong Wati NCS.
ADC Tuli, hoisted the National Flag, took Rashtriya Salute and delivered the Independence Day speech.
ABOI:
The 80th Indian Independence Day was celebrated at Local ground, Aboi, Mon with zeal and grandeur with official ceremony and cultural performances with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Aboi, MS Thangpong, NCS as special guest. Government officials, civil society members, students, and uniformed personnel participated to mark the auspicious occasion.
Earlier, the ADC Aboi hoisted the National Flag, delivered an Independence Day speech, and received the Rashtriya salute from the contingents. The National Anthem was presented by Ying Angh School and the National Song by Government Polytechnic, Aboi.
Cultural highlights included performances by KU unit Ngangching Union, Aboi Town and KNSK unit Langmeing Union, Aboi Town. With the rest of the country, the 80th Indian Independence Day was celebrated at Mangkolemba on August 15 with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mangkolemba, Moakumzük Tsudir, hoisting the National Flag and took Rashtriya Salute.
The ADC inspected the Parade Contingent and delivered the Independence Day Speech.
In the programme, a cultural song was presented by the Watsü Telen, Mangkolemba. Later, the ADC, inaugurated the exhibition stalls being set up by Agri & Allied departments and SHGs.
ATOIZU:
The Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Atoizu, celebrated the 80th Independence Day celebration with EAC, Dr Samuel Akho Konyak P, NCS as the special guest.
The Chief Guest hoisted the National Flag followed by singing of the National Song, National Anthem, took Rashtriya Salute and delivered an Independence Day speech. The programme concluded with the Beating of Retreat in the evening.
The celebration was attended by Heads of Offices, Officers-in-Charge, members of the Atoizu Town Council, government and private sector employees, public leaders and members of the general public, who gathered in large numbers to honour the occasion.
JAKHAMA:
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated at the office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Jakhama. The programme began with the singing of the National Song, followed by the Rashtriya Salute and the National Anthem.
SDO (C) Jakhama, Vineikho Tetso, NCS, hoisted the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute from the contingent of Khuzama Police Station led by OC, Inspector Joseph Zeliang. The SDO (C) also delivered an Independence Day speech.
The programme was attended by officers and staff under Jakhama Sub-Division, Dobashis (DBs), Gaon Buras (GBs), and Village Council Chairmen from the Southern Angami area.

Pungro Sub Division joins the rest of the country in its 80th Independence Day celebration with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pungro, Hotolu Sema, NCS, gracing the auspicious occasion as the special guest at Public Ground, Pungro.
The special guest hoisted the tricolor National flag and received Rashtriya Salute from 9 parade contingents followed by the Independence Day speech. Parade commander Sheto Rakho, ABSI and Parade CHM, Shetoyi Sumi, Havildar led the 9 parade contingents in the march past.
An array of presentations showcasing patriotic tribute to Motherland as it celebrates the 80th Independence Day was exhibited by Mt. Horeb Baptist School Pungro, Saramati Mt. School Pungro, Taekwondo Association Pungro, LFHSS Pungro and GMS Pungro Village. Sonal Yimchunger, GT and Lensola K, PGT were the comperes of the programmme.
PUGHOBOTO:
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great pomp and patriotic zeal at the Public Ground in Pughoboto.
The day commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag across all government establishments, institutions, and public and private buildings, setting the tone for a day of national pride.
The formal programme witnessed the arrival of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, James T Khulu Tikhir, NCS, who hoisted the Tricolour and received the Rashtriya Salute from the contingent of 8th NAP A Coy, led by Wanenlo Rengma, HC. Following the salute, a speech was delivered by the ADC. This was followed by the singing of the national song, Vande Mataram, which stirred a deep sense of patriotism among the gathering. The National Anthem, rendered by students of GHSS Pughoboto, echoed through the venue. The celebration was also attended by the newly appointed VCCs, GBs, Sumi Aphuyemi People’s Organisation (SAPO), President of the Sumi Aphuyemi Kukami Hoho (SAKH) and other CSOs under Pughoboto subdivision.
The event featured a vibrant folk song performance by the Ngovikito Women Group, which showcased the rich cultural heritage of the region. During the ceremony, two individuals were honored with the Pughoboto Subdivision Award; Khekaho Achumi, Principal of GHSS (Officer Category), for academic excellence and leadership, and Hosto H. Wotsa (Ministerial Category), an MTS, for dedication and administrative efficiency.
An exhibition-cum-sales stall was inaugurated by the ADC, providing a platform for various organizations and government departments to display their initiatives and products. The exhibition witnessed active participation from six prominent groups – NCRC Mishilimi, Mishilimi Yepaka Baptist, Natsumi Baptist Church Youth Ministry, Pughoboto Town Baptist Church Women Ministry, Department of Rural Development, and Election Department – showcasing local crafts, community welfare initiatives, government schemes, and skill development efforts.
The celebration marked a day filled with patriotic fervour and community participation in the subdivision.
CHIEPHOBOZOU:
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with Vekusheyi Rhakho, NCS Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chiephobozou as the Special Guest at Local Ground, Chiephobozou, Kohima.
The Special guest unfurled the National flag and took the Rashtriya salute and delivered the Independence Day speech.
Other major highlights of the programme included, march past by the Parade contingents consisting of Ex-Servicemen, Chiechama and 10th IRB Zhadima led by Parade Commander, ABI, Thepusohu Yoho.
The National Flag was hoisted across all government Offices and educational institutions to mark the occasion. The celebration concluded with the Independence Day Running Trophy Volleyball match, participated by Chiechama Youth Organization team, Chiephobozou Youth Organization Team and Chiephobozou Sporting Club. The prizes for the tournament were sponsored by Neizolie Rüpreo Chiechama Village Council Chairman and Vingutuo Rutsa Nerhema Village Council Chairman. It was organised by the Welfare Union Chiephobozou.
The event was compered by Akumtola Imchen, Sr. Lecturer and Mhaphruovinuo Yhome, Lecturer from DIET Chiechama. Government officials, civil society members, students, and uniformed personnel participated in large numbers to mark the occasion.

MEDZIPHEMA:
The 80th celebration of the Indian Independence Day was celebrated at ADC’s Office Complex Medziphema, Sub-Division, Chumoukedima. The national song was sung and played during the celebration. ADC Medziphema, P James Swu graced the occasion.
On his arrival, the ADC hoisted the national flag and took the Rashtriya Salute along with the singing of the National Anthem and delivered the Independence Day speech. The parade contingent 15th NAP (IR) ‘C’ COY Mahila Battalion Chumukedima was led by HAV C. Yangpila, while a cultural presentation of folk song ”Enchanting Wild Flower” by Lotha Women’s group.
The celebration of Independence Day concluded with the National Song Vante Mataram. All the Head of the Departments and Government employees, Medziphema Town Council Members, GBs and Public were present during the celebration.
SATAKHA:
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated at Public Ground, Satakha. The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag and Rashtriya Salute by ADC Satakha followed by the National song and National Anthem. A march-past by various parade contingents was also held as part of the celebration.
The programme featured a range of cultural and sporting activities. while a tug-of-war was organised between Town GBs and Satakha Town Council. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the march-past and tug-of-war competitions.
The ADC Satakha also inaugurated exhibition-cum-sale stalls put up by Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and the 111 Bn. BSF, Satakha, providing an opportunity to showcase local products and initiatives.
As part of the day’s outreach activities, officers from Satakha and the Medical team visited the Children’s Home, Satakha.
The day’s celebrations concluded with the Beating of Retreat by the 111th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), Satakha.
The programme was compered by Zakato S. Zhimomi, GT, GHSS Satakha, and Linoka A, PGT, GHSS Satakha.
TAMLU:
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated at Public Ground, Tamlu Sub-Division, Longleng district. The celebration begins with the hoisting of the National Flag at all Government Offices.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tamlu, T Lankonsen Tsanglao, NCS, hoisted the National Flag followed by the National Anthem and delivered the Independence Day speech.
A march past was conducted by the contingents comprising the Village Guard, Tamlu HQ; Village Guard, Tamlu Village; Government High School and Government Middle School, Tamlu Town; Christian School, Tamlu Town; and St. Thomas School, Tamlu. The St. Thomas School band party participated in the celebration.
The celebration featured a special presentation by Nyupong Cecelia K and a cultural presentation by Vangvungla Tamlu Town. The Special Guest also inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up at the venue by the government agencies and SHGs.
In the afternoon, a football exhibition match organised by the Tamlu Area Sports Association (TASA) was also held. The day-long celebration concluded with the Beating of Retreat by 12th NAP (IR) ‘C’ Coy, Tamlu.
NAGINIMORA:
The 80th Independence Day celebration was observed at Naginimora sub-division, Mon with ADC, Naginimora, N. Zubenthung Ngullie, NCS as special.
The ADC hoisted the National flag, took Rashtriya Salute and read out the Independence Day Speech. The program was attended by the Government employees, GBs, DB, and the general public.
BHANDARI:
The Bhandari sub division celebrated the 80th Independence Day with Achumbemo Kikon, MLA & Advisor SCERT and Food Processing, and Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, as the Chief Guest at the public ground Bhandari.
The Chief Guest hoisted the National Flag which was followed by singing of the National song and the National Anthem, after which he received the Rashtriya Salute and delivered the Independence Day speech.
The lone parade contingent from the 7th NAP Bn was led by ABI, Tiatemjen Ao as the parade Commander.
Eloe Hoho Bhandari presented a folk song and Amos Kikon presented a special number.
The Chief Guest inaugurated and inspected the exhibition stalls put up by the Nagaland State Seed Farm Merapani, Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Bhandari, Sub District Industries Centre (SDIC) Department of Industries, Veterinary Department of Animal Husbandry Services and Siyen Openro Self-Help Group (SHG) Bhandari village. The veterinary Department also distributed Livestock medicines free of cost to the public.
SEYOCHUNG:
The 80th Independence Day celebration was observed in at Public Ground, Seyochung, Kiphire. The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chumiamo Humtsoe NCS, hoisted the national flag and delivered the Independence Day speech.
He also took the Rashtriya salute from three parade contingents, St. Mary High School and New Monger Village Guards with Tsaliba as parade commander. He also formally inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by Yongpi SHGs, NSRLM Sitimi block, Department of Agriculture, Horticulture and St. James church Phisami.
All the head of the departments, public leaders, GBs, VCCs and NGOs attended the function.
PHOMCHING:
Along with the rest of the country, Phomching sub-division, Mon celebrated the 80th Independence Day at Local ground.
Sub-Divisional Officer (C) Phomching, Vejoyo Swuro graced the Occasion as a special Guest. He hoisted the National Flag and took Rashtriya Salute from the Village Guards. Officers, DBs, GBs, Civil Societies, and general public of Phomching town attend the Celebration.
