9th annual NAJ Cosfest expects footfall of over 8,000

The two-day event of the 9th annual Cosfest organised by the Nagaland Anime Junkies (NAJ) commenced from today at The Heritage Kohima. It is one of the biggest Cosplay festivals in Northeast India

Speaking about the emergence of the biggest Cosplay festival of Northeast Biebe Natso, founder of NAJ said, they were influenced by the Comic Con, which was held in 2011, a celebration of pop-culture on the subcontinent that brings together a series of fandoms like comics, toys, merch, anime, tv, movies, gaming and cosplay etc.

When asked about the blooming Cosfest festival Natso said, “The response is overwhelming, on our first event we had like 500 people attending our event but now we have 8,000-10,000 people attending from all over India”.

“We also do local preliminaries for world comic submit, Our local winners they get to compete in the final Indian prelims and if they win the final prelims, they represent India in Japan which is one of the biggest cosplay events submit where 40-50 countries competes”.

About Cosplay as a career, she said “Professional cosplay is actually a very good profession because they get to do what they love”.

The NAJ Cosfest which was first celebrated in 2013 is an annual fest celebrated in the month of July. It has two categories- Adult category and Chibbi (children of age 10 and below) category. Winner of the adults category will be awarded with a cash prize of ₹20,000 along with gift hampers and Chibbi winner will receive cash prize of ₹5,000 with gift hampers.
