A two day training programme on ‘Ethics and Values in Public Governance’ for senior level government officers commence on February 26 at ATI, Kohima. The training will be attended by 25 NCS & NSS Officers in the rank of Joint Secretary & Additional Secretary of the Government of Nagaland. The training is conducted in collaboration with and the Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms, Government of Nagaland and Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM), New Delhi.
The Inaugural program of the Training was chaired by Bendanglila, NCS, Additional Director (Admin) ATI & Additional Secretary to the Government of Nagaland. A brief overview of the Course was given by the resource person Inderjeet Mittal, Director (Retd), GoI & Guest Faculty, ISTM, New Delhi. The training module will cover topics on Framework of Ethical Governance, Care for and integration with self, others and environment and Ethical Dilema.

Special address was delivered by V. Shashank Shekhar, IAS, Director General, ATI, Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture) and Agricultural Production Commissioner. He exhorted the Officer Trainees to set an example of integrity as they hold more responsibilities in the state government. They were also reminded of the obligations as those occupying responsible government positions to find a solution to the various problems faced by the society and to ensure that the government machinery functions efficiently for the welfare of the common people.
He also noted that any deviation from the Government code of ethics can lead to the undesirable situation of government funds not reaching the most deserving and vulnerable section of society, which is an offence not only in the legal sense but also in terms of moral and social values.
