The monthly meeting of the Mon District Planning & Development Board was held on October 8 at DC Conference Hall, Mon. Deputy Commissioner, Wennyei Konyak, NCS presided over the meeting. He welcomed the members present called upon the new members.
Executive Engineer, Power Department, K Tingtenmoie elaborated on the proposal for installation of 100 KV Transformer at Pinkhong ward, Aboi, for servicing the needs of Pinkhong, Shammang and Mansham wards under Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). He also apprised the members regarding the installation of new Transformer at Lighthouse School Complex (LSC) GHS, Angjangyang.
In this regard, the ADC, Aboi, MS Thangpong highlighted the problem of insufficient power supply at Aboi, where citizens could not use even fans during summer. The house also discussed the proposal for development of ‘Ben Enclave’ resort under the North Eastern Council (NEC). After deliberation by the members, the proposals were then forwarded to the higher ups for further approval.

The Deputy Commissioner reminded the members about the on-going “Reform Utsav” programme and encouraged them to be sincere and responsible in their duties. He also informed that Chief Minister, Dr Neiphiu Rio will be gracing the upcoming Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Mon Administrative Headquarters as the Special Guest.
Later, ITI Principal, N Nyakshom Phom, briefly noted on Apprenticeship, which is a system of training where a learner works alongside an experienced professional or employer to gain practical skills, while often earns a stipend or wage.
The board members also virtually joined in the nationwide launching programme of the Joint Squad for Health (JOSH) Team, initiated by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in collaboration with Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Youth affairs & Sports. The Medical Department, Mon presented the status of Tuberculosis in the District.
