The Regional Transport Authority (RTO), Wokha, has invited applications from eligible candidates of Wokha district for Two-Wheeler Taxi Permits allotted to the Regional Transport Authority, Wokha.
Eligibility criteria require that applicants must be indigenous inhabitants and permanent residents of Wokha district, possess valid Aadhaar and Scheduled Tribe certificates, hold a valid two-wheeler driving license and unemployment certificate issued by the competent authority. Applicants must be between 20 and 40 years of age at the time of application.
Application forms will be issued from February 24, 2026, at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, and the last date for submission is March 27, 2026. Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected. Shortlisted candidates will undergo a two-wheeler riding test and an interview, details of which will be intimated later. An undertaking must also be made by the owner or permit holder of the two-wheeler taxi.

Terms and conditions specify that the two-wheeler proposed must be brand new, with an engine capacity of 125 cc or above. The permit issued will be non-transferable, valid initially for five years, and renewable for another five years subject to prevailing rules. The permit holder must personally operate the taxi, which cannot be driven by another person. The rider shall wear a yellow helmet and a yellow half-vest with “TAXI” clearly inscribed on the back of both. As mandated under Section 129 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, both rider and pillion rider must wear ISI-certified helmets at all times, and only one pillion rider is permitted.
The two-wheeler taxis will be allowed to ply only within Wokha town area and must strictly adhere to fares fixed by the RTO. The Authority reserves the right to cancel permits if valid grounds are found, without prejudice to other legal actions.
