Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, S. Keoshu Yimchunger inaugurated the Multi-Playground, Kalakha, Khezhakeno as the Special Guest on March 14.
In the inaugural function held at Tsodelo Taza-o, Chairman, NSSB and Chief Patron & Pioneer, Multi-Playground, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, NCS (Retd.) briefed the gathering as to how he was entrusted on June 25, 2022 to scout for a new football ground as the only football ground in Khezhakeno could not be extended length wise due to non-availability of space. He thanked the Komuno Khel of Khezhakeno for adopting a Resolution on December 3, 2023 to freely make the required land available for the multi playground ground and allowing him to utilise as much as land required for construction of the multi playground. Accordingly, the cutting work of the multi-ground started on April 1, 2024.
Zehol thanked the following persons for their generous contributions, namely, the Governor of Nagaland Rs. 2,50,000/-, Pfukrulhou Koza, Jt. Dir. (Retd.) Rs. 2,50,000/-, Dr. Ngopelo Keviechu, Rs. 10,000/-, Dr. Collins Sono, Rs. 5,000/-, Viepelo Pulo, Rs. 3000/- and the Mechanical Department for the excavators and bulldozers.
Addressing the gathering, Advisor, Keoshu expressed his gratitude to be in the ancestral home of the Nagas as their forefathers told them of their origin from Khezhakeno. He thanked Kevekha Kevin Zehol for his generous heart and concern for his village and solely taking up construction of the standard size Football ground and Badminton court, and further appreciated Zehol for his vision to take up more construction of other grounds including basketball court, badminton court and another football ground. He stated that since there is already a standard size football ground, they may go for a futsal ground which will be initiated from the Government side to make it into a reality.

Keoshu called upon different bodies including the village council, church, students and the youth for maintaining the grounds. ‘You cannot depend or wait on Government for everything’ he said and that repair works should be initiated by the community.
He reminded that Nagas do not have sense of ownership over Government property/infrastructures and called upon the community to treat Government infrastructures / properties with sense of ownership, and also to initiate for community’s participation in repair/improvement of Government infrastructures.

He also encouraged all to be not only seasonal players but to play games and sports all throughout the year. He also called upon village authorities to identify potential youths and encourage them to join State Khelo academy for overall development.
