An exposure visit-cum-training programme for farmers from the IPM-adopted village, Rusoma, was successfully conducted at the School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus on March 17.
The programme was organized under the project titled “Establishment of Crop-Based Model IPM Villages for Promotion of Integrated Pest Management Technologies in the NEH Region of India,” funded by ICAR–NRIIPM, New Delhi. The initiative aimed to enhance farmers’ knowledge and skills in Integrated Pest and Disease Management (IPM) practices across various crops.
During the technical sessions, Prof Bireswar Sinha, Project In-charge and Professor, Department of Plant Pathology, provided practical insights into the preparation and application of Bordeaux mixture. Dr. Kevineituo Bier, Assistant Professor, Department of Soil Science, delivered an informative lecture on the use of the NPSS mobile application for farmers, emphasizing its role in soil health management and advisory services.

Dr. Bendangsenla Longkumer, Project Assistant, delivered a session on beneficial insects, their conservation, and integrated pest management strategies in citrus crops, including appropriate control measures during pest infestations.
Following the indoor sessions, farmers were taken on an exposure visit to the Plant Disease Museum, Insect Museum, and Institute Museum of SAS, Nagaland University, where they were introduced to various plant diseases, insect pests, and their management strategies.
Thejaneilie Miasalhou, Para-apiarist, AICRP on Honey Bee and Pollinators demonstrated scientific beekeeping and highlighted the importance of honey bees in crop pollination and productivity.
As part of the programme, agricultural implements such as power sprayers, power weeders, and brush cutters, provided under ICAR–NRIIPM, were distributed to the farmers of the adopted village to support improved farming practices.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr Waluniba, Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology, SAS, Nagaland University, expressing gratitude to all participants.
