Brazil overcame a disciplined gritty Switzerland 1-0 in the Group G match on Monday, to qualify for the knock out rounds with two consecutive wins.
The match between Brazil and Switzerland, was a low scoring game which Brazil won by a single goal though a Casemiro goal in the 83rd minute.
Switzerland played solidly giving little away while Brazil, missing Neymar Jr, due to an injury picked up in the first match against Serbia, looked less threatening.
Casemiro, who had an excellent game in the first match, continued with his fine form.
He assisted a fine pass to Vinicius Jr in the second half who found the net. However, VAR ruled that an offside had been committed during the build-up.
Casemiro scored in the 83rd minute with a powerful shot to the left corner beyond Swiss keeper Somer.

Switzerland played a solid match with grit and discipline and even though they could not get any shots on target, they would have certainly thought that they deserved a point from the game.
The other Group G fixture between Serbia and Cameroon was a high scoring match with six goals which ended in a 3-3 draw.
Both teams came into the match after defeats in their opening games and needed to win points to have any chance of progressing to the knock-out rounds.
Serbia got some great chances to take the lead but squandered them as Mitrovic’s shot hit the post in the 10th minute while he drove another one wide of the post in the 17th minute. Both the shots were from close range.
Cameroon took the lead in the 29th minute when a flick header off a corner ended in the far post for a simple tap in.
Serbia didn’t take long to equalise as Pavlovic scored in the extra time of the first half by heading in a free header off a perfectly delivered Tadic freekick.
Two minutes later, Serbia scored its second goal when Savic drove a left foot shot to the left corner beyond the reach of the keeper.
Shortly after the break, Cameroon lost the ball due to a careless mistake around the half line.
In the resulting build up, Mitrovic finally scored through a simple shot from close range with the keeper out of position to attempt any save.
Cameroon responded with an audacious Aboubakar goal in the 63rd minute who in a one-on-one with the keeper hooked the ball high up. The ball found the net as Cameroon closed in.

Three minutes later, Cameroon were level 3-3 when they beat the offside trap and Aboubakar made a pass to Choupo-Moting who scored from close in.
Brazil is through into the knock-out rounds. All the other three teams are still in play. Cameroon has to defeat Brazil while Serbia would need to defeat Switzerland to have a chance to be in the equation.
