The monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Peren, was held at the DC’s Conference Hall, Peren on April 6, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman, DPDB Peren, Hiazu Meru.
The Deputy Commissioner warmly welcomed the esteemed members of the board as well as the special invitees from Beisumpuikam Village Council and Oasis Federation, who were invited to attend the meeting.
The house reviewed the agendas of the previous DPDB meeting, which included review of the adoption of institutions, pilot projects on adoption of villages, and adoption of hospitals. The status of implementation and progress on these initiatives were discussed in brief.
On the agenda of Beisumpuikam Model Village, the DC placed a proposal before the house. He informed that district officials had visited the village and observed that it is a progressive and comparatively large village. The village has two government schools with around 300 students each, and several positive developmental indicators were noted. Considering these factors, the house decided to adopt Beisumpuikam as a Model Village. It was further resolved that departments will extend necessary interventions wherever feasible. A committee was also constituted at both district and sub-divisional levels to ensure targeted interventions and effective implementation.

Regarding the Piggery Production Programme, DC stated that piggery production in Peren district is on the rise, particularly in the Jalukie Valley extending up to Punglwa village. Keeping in mind the need for a proper plan to streamline the sector and support farmers in the district, the house deliberated on the agenda and approved it for adoption. A committee was also constituted to oversee and ensure effective implementation of the programme.
On the Cleanest Office Award, DC stated that monthly social work activities are being conducted in respective offices. He observed that the Home Guards, under the District Commandant Office, have maintained the cleanest surroundings and lauded them on behalf of the DPDB for setting an example. He urged other departments to maintain cleanliness and uphold similar standards. In this connection, the house also decided to constitute a committee to oversee and evaluate cleanliness initiatives across offices.
The meeting also witnessed PowerPoint presentations by ADPM, DDMU (NSRLM), Ruuvilie Kuotsu and President of Oasis Federation, Jalukie Block, Joysi Rongmei, highlighting their activities and achievements in the district. For the next meeting, DC has entrusted Veterinary Department to present PowerPoint presentation.
