Director General Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera visited Headquarter 6 Sector Assam Rifles at Dimapur to review the operational, intelligence, training and administrative preparedness of the formation.
During the visit, the DGAR was briefed in detail on the prevailing security scenario, including socio-political developments in Dimapur and adjoining areas. Comprehensive intelligence updates on current factional dynamics were presented, highlighting emerging trends and their potential impact on peace and stability.
The DGAR assessed the operational readiness of units under the sector, focusing on deployment patterns, responsiveness, and inter-agency coordination. Training standards were reviewed to ensure troops remain prepared to meet evolving security challenges.
He also commended the troops for their outstanding work and awarded three on the spot commendation card to outstanding soldiers.
Administrative aspects, including logistics, infrastructure and welfare measures, were also examined to ensure efficient functioning of all units. The DG AR commended all ranks for their professionalism, dedication and high morale.

He emphasized sustained vigilance, synergy and proactive engagement with local communities to maintain peace and stability in the region.
Meanwhile, the DGAR visited Ghaspani garrison located in Chumoukedima district on April 6. He visited Subedar P B Chhetri, Kirti Chakra, Centre of Excellence (NIEDO) to connect with students preparing for forthcoming competitive examinations of JEE and NEET.
The visit focused on engaging with the students, assessing their level of academic preparedness and reviewing the infrastructure and facilities available to support their studies. During his interaction with both students and faculty, the Director General commended their dedication and perseverance towards achieving academic success.
While addressing the students, he urged them to stay focused, disciplined and consistent in their efforts to succeed in these highly competitive examinations. He also extended his warm wishes to the students for Easter, which had just passed encouraging them to carry forward the spirit of hope, renewal, and positivity in their academic journey.
In addition, the Director General also interacted with troops at the garrison, appreciating their dedication and commitment to duty. He motivated them to continue striving for excellence and to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in their service.
