Startup India as part of its continued efforts to promote start-up ecosystem development and strengthen grassroots innovation has launched the TEJAS initiative (Transforming Entrepreneurial Journeys Across States and Districts) across 132 districts in the country.

Two district-level workshops under this initiative are scheduled to take place in Kiphire and Shamator district, in collaboration with the Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland, along with the respective District Administrations.

The workshops are set to be held on 14th April 2026 at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall, Kiphire and on 16th April 2026 at Government Higher Secondary School, Shamator. These workshops form part of the broader implementation of the TEJAS initiative across 132 districts in the country, aimed at strengthening the startup ecosystem at the grassroots level.

The TEJAS initiative focuses on identifying, nurturing, and supporting aspiring entrepreneurs, startups, and students in non-metro and underserved regions. It seeks to facilitate access to institutional support, mentorship, and relevant resources required for building and scaling enterprises. Participation is expected from aspiring entrepreneurs, students, and innovators from the region.

The districts of Kiphire and Shamator hold significant potential for entrepreneurship across sectors such as agriculture and allied activities, handloom and handicrafts, as well as eco-tourism and adventure-based enterprises, supported by their rich natural and cultural resources. Through the TEJAS workshops, participants will gain sector-specific insights, enabling them to identify local opportunities and build sustainable, market-aligned ventures.

The sessions will be delivered by Startup India, DPIIT, in collaboration with ecosystem partners, including the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, and will cover key aspects of the entrepreneurial lifecycle. These will include awareness of Central and State Government schemes, sensitisation on DPIIT recognition of startups along with guidance on the recognition process, access to funding opportunities, market linkages, and sector-specific innovation pathways.

The initiative is aligned with the Government of India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @ 2047, with a focus on unlocking entrepreneurial potential across regions and promoting balanced and inclusive economic development.
