The Planning & Transformation Department accorded a warm farewell to Meyinuksung, Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC), on the eve of his superannuation from government service on May 30 held at Conference Hall of the Department of Planning & Transformation, Kohima.
The Additiona Development Commissioner, Vilhouhunuo Sachu, stated that Meyinuksung joined government service on February 15, 1996 as a Planning Assistant through the Nagaland Public Service Commission and served in various capacities across the State before being promoted as Deputy Development Commissioner in April 2025 and retiring on May 31, 2026 upon attaining the age of superannuation.
Y Kikheto Sema, IAS, Principal Secretary & Development Commissioner, reflecting on his own 39 years of government service, including 21 years in the Secretariat, stated his long association with many officers of the Planning Department, who have all retired. He expressed happiness at being posted to the Planning & Transformation Department towards the end of his service career.
Describing Planning as one of the most important and efficient departments in the State, Kikheto stated that although he had not worked closely with the retiring officer, he was impressed that as per his service record, Meyinuksung served 29 years in the various districts out of his 31 years of total service, contributing significantly to development at the grassroots level.
Drawing a parallel between life and service, Kikheto remarked that there is certainty for every person that when we are born, we get a certificate to die one day; only the date and time is unknown. Similarly, when we get appointed into government service, we are reminded that we will retire one day- for which the date is known to us either by superannuation or length of service.
Sema stated that not everyone is fortunate enough to complete their service tenure and retire in good health, and congratulated Meyinuksung for successfully reaching this important milestone.
