Naga Wrestling Team to participate in UWW Asian Belt Wrestling Championship 2026

A four-member Naga Wrestling team would be representing the Indian Belt Wrestling team under the aegis of All India Traditional Wrestling & Pankration Federation (AITWPF) to participate in the UWW Asian Belt Wrestling Championship 2026 which would be held on April 13 and 14 at Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The team is led by Vivolie Kezo, president of Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) and prominent Naga wrestlers, Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü (100+ Kg Category – Freestyle & Classic), Venuzo Dawhuo (Below 100 Kg category – Freestyle & Classic) and Nlumrai Hegwang (Below 80 Kg category – Freestyle).

The team departed from Dimapur on Saturday and would arrive back on April 17.

The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) has expressed gratitude to Minister for Tourism & Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along and the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland for sponsoring the team.

The NWA also expressed gratitude to the Minister for taking the initiative to promote Naga Wrestling and taking necessary steps to include Naga Wrestling at the World Nomad Games 2026 which would be held in the later part of the year at Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The NWA further appealed to all the wrestling fraternity and the general public to support and uphold the team for the Championship.
