2nd Inter-Departmental tournament begins in Tening, DC calls for unity and teamwork

The 2nd Inter-Departmental Tournament under Tening Sub-Division commenced on April 16 at the Indoor Stadium, Tening Town, with Deputy Commissioner, Peren, Hiazu Meru, NCS, as the Special Guest.

Delivering the welcome address, Extra Assistant Commissioner, Tening,  Ihoilung Chuilo, NCS, highlighted that the tournament serves as a platform for smoother collaboration and camaraderie among various departments. He expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Badminton Club Tening for the collaboration in the programme and urged all participants to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship. He also extended a warm welcome to all participating teams.

In his address, the Special Guest, Hiazu Meru, NCS thanked all officials for their active participation and described the tournament as a platform where employees come together as one. He encouraged the Tening team to continue fostering unity and teamwork.

He emphasized that healthy competition within organizations strengthens teamwork, enhances communication among colleagues and promotes a positive work environment. He noted that such events provide opportunities for networking, leadership development and improved productivity while underscoring that sportsmanship remains the most important quality in any sporting event.

Highlighting broader developmental priorities, the Deputy Commissioner spoke on key focus areas for Peren district including education, health and economy sector acknowledging that officers and staff are already aware of these challenges.

He also referred to the DPDB’s initiative of adopting schools across Peren district and urged officers to prioritize sectors such as career counselling and economic development to improve the quality of life in villages.

He further encouraged various government departments to actively support and uplift farmers through targeted interventions. Referring to the national vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, he stated that India aims to become the world’s leading economy, noting that the country has already emerged as the fourth-largest economy in 2025.

Challenging the government servants of Tening, he asserted that the sub-division must not lag behind as the rest of the district progresses.

The inaugural program was chaired by Temshikongro PGT GHSS Tening while the vote of thanks was delivered by Noklenzenba Jamir BDO Tening.
