Ao Senden has rejected the Department of Health and Family Welfare’s latest response to its ultimatum over the shortage of a radiologist at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung, and warned that it would intensify its agitation if its demands were not met by October 31, 2026.
In a letter addressed to the Principal Director of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland, through the Medical Superintendent of IMDH, Ao Senden stated that it was seeking only the implementation of the department’s notification dated August 19, 2026, concerning the deployment of a radiologist at the hospital.
Questioning what it termed the department’s inconsistent approach, Ao Senden referred to a directive dated September 7, 2026, through which the Medical Superintendent of IMDH was instructed to release the senior radiologist from the hospital. It asked why a similar directive could not be issued to release the incoming radiologist from District Hospital Phek for deployment at IMDH, Mokokchung.

The Senden reiterated that nothing short of a qualified radiologist would be acceptable at IMDH, maintaining that the availability of a sonologist would not meet its demand.

Ao Senden also renewed its demand, as outlined in its September 16 ultimatum, for all doctors and nurses attached to other establishments to be detached and reverted to IMDH. It further demanded that the shifting to the hospital’s new Block A be carried out.
Expressing dissatisfaction over what it described as the department’s unjustifiable inaction, Ao Senden said the failure to address its demands had challenged the Ao Senden to escalate its agitation.
It further urged the department to take the matter seriously and fulfill all its demands on or before October 31. It stated that the agitation would continue until the demands were met and warned of further escalation if the department failed to act.
