DC Kohima bans roadside parking

Deputy Commissioner, Kohima has prohibited unauthorized roadside parking to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance public safety.

According to the directive issued by Deputy Commissioner, B Henok Buchem, rampant roadside parking has been causing significant traffic congestion. The order follows a joint inspection conducted on December 4, 2025, by the Sector Magistrate and ward authorities covering the stretch from Assamese Church Junction to National Highway-29 Junction under Ward-18.

In view of the findings, parking of vehicles within the Right of Way (RoW) along the identified stretch has been strictly prohibited with immediate effect. The administration has warned that any vehicles found violating the order will be towed at the owner’s expense and penalized under relevant legal provisions.

The order further directs the Kohima Traffic Police to install necessary signages and barricades to enforce the restriction effectively.
