The Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) has appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung to urgently intervene in the ongoing issue surrounding Government High School (GHS) Longkhum, which has remained closed since February 27, 2026.

In a representation addressed to the district administration, the student body stated that the prolonged closure of the school, arising out of a dispute over the appointment of fourth-grade staff, has severely disrupted academic activities and affected the future of students.

According to AKM, the institution has remained shut for over 50 days, leaving more than 50 enrolled students without access to classes and regular learning.  It said students enrolled in the institution are facing significant hardships as their education has come to a standstill, thereby jeopardizing their academic future.

AKM believes that the prolonged closure of an educational institution cannot be justified, especially when it directly impacts the students.

It appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to intervene at the earliest and facilitate a fair and amicable resolution between all stakeholders. Immediate steps may kindly be taken to ensure the reopening of the school so that the students can resume their classes without further delay.

Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of students, AKM conveyed its willingness to extend full cooperation in resolving the issue.
