Training for para-veterinarians on livestock insurance scheme held at Kohima

A one-day training programme for Para-veterinarians on the Livestock Insurance Scheme under NLM 2025–26 was conducted at the CVO Conference Hall, Kohima on April 27.

Delivering the welcome and keynote address, Dr Asangla Jamir, CVO Kohima, highlighted the critical importance of the insurance scheme. She stressed that securing livestock is a foundational step in protecting farmers from sudden financial losses, thereby paving the way for sustainable livestock development across the district.

She also elaborated on the vital role of paraveterinarians in creating awareness among livestock farmers in their respective areas.

The technical sessions focused on various aspects of the Livestock Insurance Scheme. Dr Menguzenuo Chielie, Deputy Director, spoke on the overall scheme, including its objectives, animal coverage, and premium rates. Dr N Suokhrie emphasized the claim procedures and documentation under the scheme.

The programme was chaired by Dr Ketholenuo Metha, DDDO, Kohima, while the invocation was pronounced by Rokokholie Chücha, SVFA

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Elizabeth Yhome, Joint Director.

The training aimed to strengthen awareness and encourage wider adoption of livestock insurance among farmers and field functionaries in the district.
