Nagaland delegation participate in national deliberative summit in Bhubaneswar

A delegation from Nagaland led by Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Economics & Statistics Department, Akunu S Meyase, participated in the National Deliberative Summit on “Harmonizing Administrative Data for Governance,” organised by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from April 29–30, 2026.

The summit brought together policymakers, domain experts, and state representatives to deliberate on linking administrative data systems for improved governance, evidence-based policymaking, and enhanced service delivery. Participation in the summit reflects Nagaland’s commitment to modernising its statistical systems in line with national initiatives.

Key learnings from the summit are expected to strengthen the State’s data ecosystem, improve inter-departmental data sharing, and support efficient governance and policy planning.

During the deliberations, experts emphasized the need for harmonization of administrative datasets across departments through the adoption of common metadata standards, unique identifiers, and standardized classifications. States were encouraged to develop comprehensive data catalogues to maintain an inventory of datasets, including legacy data, and to ensure interoperability across government systems.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of automated data generation and sharing mechanisms, the establishment of state-level data exchange platforms, and the use of national data platforms for seamless integration and dissemination. Additionally, capacity-building initiatives and competency-based training for officials were underscored as essential for improving data management practices. Emphasis was also placed on quality assessment frameworks, advance data release calendars, and strengthening institutional mechanisms to sustain improvements in administrative data governance.
