Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem has issued an order announcing the temporary closure of a stretch of National Highway-2 on May 3, 2026, to facilitate the recovery of an ill-fated truck.
The affected section lies between Jakhama and Viswema, where a truck fell into the Kehorü River. The highway would remain closed to all forms of vehicular traffic from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Authorities have advised commuters to use an alternative route via Viswema-Kidima-Chakhabama during the closure period to avoid inconvenience.
