Governor of Nagaland, Nand Kishore Yadav was formally inducted as the Chief Patron of the Nagaland Bharat Scouts and Guides (NBS&G) at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan, Kohima on May 2.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor expressed his deep sense of honour and pleasure in associating with an organization that has played a pivotal role in shaping the character, discipline and leadership qualities of young people over the decades.
He stated that accepting the role of Chief Patron comes with a strong sense of responsibility and commitment towards nurturing the youth, who are the future of the State and the nation.
Highlighting the significance of the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement, the Governor noted that it is a voluntary, non-political and inclusive educational movement that transcends distinctions of origin, race and creed.
He recalled its foundation by Lord Baden Powell in 1907 and emphasized that the core values of discipline, self-reliance, service, and leadership remain highly relevant in today’s rapidly evolving world.
The Governor also acknowledged the steady growth of the Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides since its establishment in 1967, noting its expanding reach across various districts and its positive impact on the lives of young people in the State.

Underscoring the importance of such organizations in contemporary times, he stated that the movement plays a crucial role in guiding young minds amidst modern challenges and distractions. He encouraged Scouts and Guides to uphold the values of honesty, kindness, courage and service in their daily lives, reminding them that even small acts can make a meaningful difference in society.
Assuring his full support as Chief Patron, the Governor called upon educational institutions and stakeholders to actively contribute to the strengthening and expansion of the movement in Nagaland. He emphasized the need to provide more opportunities for youth to benefit from the values and experiences that scouting and guiding offer.
The Governor congratulated the Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides for their continued dedication and expressed confidence that the movement will achieve greater heights in the years ahead. He urged all to work together in the spirit of unity, service, and nation-building.
