A record investment commitment of $20.5 billion by leading Indian companies into the United States was announced during the SelectUSA Investment Summit 2026 held in Maryland, marking one of the largest foreign investment announcements at the summit.
According to a report, the investments span major sectors including pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, energy infrastructure, and emerging technologies, and are expected to generate thousands of jobs in both India and the United States while boosting industrial collaboration and innovation.
Speaking at the summit’s kick-off reception in New Delhi, Ambassador Sergio Gor said the investments reflect growing economic cooperation between the two countries.
“I am proud to advance our goal to double U.S.-India bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030. Through fair, balanced, and mutually beneficial trade, we’re attracting world-class investment to the United States and creating shared prosperity for both nations,” he stated.
A major portion of the investment—over $19.1 billion—will come from India’s pharmaceutical sector through manufacturing expansion, research and development, and new facilities in the U.S.
Apart from pharmaceuticals, investments in steel, connectivity, and energy supply chains are expected to strengthen America’s industrial capabilities and improve resilient supply networks.

Officials informed that 12 Indian companies alone announced over $1.1 billion in new greenfield and expansion projects across multiple American states, supporting employment in manufacturing, engineering, and technology sectors.
According to summit organisers, the investment announcements from India this year exceeded the cumulative total of all previous Indian commitments made through the SelectUSA platform and represented the highest number of announcements by any country at the 2026 summit.
The annual SelectUSA Investment Summit serves as a major platform connecting global investors, companies, and economic development organisations with investment opportunities across the United States.
