220 cases settled in National Lok Adalat across Nagaland

A total of 402 cases were taken up during the 2nd Quarterly National Lok Adalat conducted across Nagaland on May 9, out of which 220 cases were disposed of with a total settlement amount of Rs. 3,66,21,476.

The National Lok Adalat was organised under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority through 11 benches set up by various District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) across district headquarters in the state.

According to official reports, the overall disposal rate during the Lok Adalat stood at around 54 per cent.

Cases taken up were at pre-litigation stage including bank recovery cases, loan recovery and telephone bills and those at pending stages were criminal compoundable offences, MACT and other civil cases.

Mokokchung DLSA conducted 2nd Quarter National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex. Victo Sema, NJS , District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman, MDLSA was the presiding officer. Molodongba, PL, Temjenkokla, PL, Mapujungla and Ms Chubarenla were the conciliators. All together 10 pre litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and 8 were disposed of with the total settlement amount of Rs.16,44,000 only.

Peren DLSA conducted 2nd National Lok Adalat at SBI Peren Branch. Khrievono Seletsu, NJS, Chief Judicial Magistrate Cum Secretary PDLSA was the presiding officer. All together 50 pre- litigation bank recovery cases were taken up out of which 24 cases were disposed of with a total settlement amount of Rs. 20,44,500.

The Kohima DLSA conducted the 2nd Quarter National Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex on 9th May, 2026. Principal District & Sessions Judge-cum- Chairperson KDLSA, Mezivolu T Therieh, NJS, was the Presiding Officer. Retainer Lawyer, Sunjib Rana, Nagali Shohe, Tiakumla, Puchole, Yangpila, and K Catherine PL were the conciliators. The programme was flagged off with a short inaugural session. Chairperson, Mezivolu T Therieh addressed the attendees which is inclusive of the Bank Officials, other officers from various departments and the beneficiaries, with a brief note on Lok Adalat and appreciated the efforts of the officials in making Lok Adalat functional.

Retainer Lawyer, Sunjib Rana addressed the issues faced when conducting the Lok Adalat and measures to ensure and effective Lok Adalat in the future. A total of 156 cases were taken up—123 pre-litigation and 3 pending—and out of which 23 were disposed of, with a total settlement amount of Rs 17,22,048 only.

Mon DLSA conducted 2nd Quarterly National Lok Adalat at District Court Mon. Nokshei Kano, District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman DLSA Mon and  Wokono Yhoshii Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary DLSA Mon, were the presiding officer. Advocate Topha, Panel Lawyer DLSA Mon, Advocate Angun Konyak, Retainer Lawyer Mon DLSA, Advocate Mannon Chief LADC Mon, Advocate Moba, Deputy LADC Mon, Henlem P, Panel Lawyer Mon DLSA, were the conciliators. All together 10 pre litigation bank recovery cases and 8 litigation case were taken up and 7 were disposed of with the total settlement amount of Rs. 20,57,540 only.

Tuensang District Legal Services Authority under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority conducted it’s 2nd Quarterly National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex, Tuensang Nagaland. The National Lok Adalat was presided by Principal District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman Tuensang, DLSA Smti.Somet Chumden Chang, NJS, and Retainer Lawyer, TDLSA, P Herola, and Ayangla, Panel Lawyer as the conciliators and assisted by Panglang, Deputy LADC and Thondi Ongphang , Assistant LADC. All together 15 bank recovery cases were taken up and three bank cases were disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs.14,78,629 only.

Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) conducted 1st National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Wokha.  Seyielenuo Mezhu, District & Sessions Judge /Chairperson WDLSA was the presiding officer. Two Pre-Litigation-Bank recovery was taken up and disposed off. The total settlement amount is Rs 3,32,000 only.

Phek DLSA conducted the 2nd Quarterly National Lok Adalat held at the District court complex Phek. Duvelu Vero, NJS, District & Sessions Judge cum Chairperson Phek DLSA was the Presiding officer. Sekhotso Rokha, Retainer Lawyer Phek DLSA, Vethothi Vero Chief LADC and Thomeweu, Panel Lawyer Phek DLSA as conciliators, assisted by PLVs .A total of 27 Bank Recovery Cases (Pre-Litigation Cases) were taken up and disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs. 49,55,778 only.

Kiphire District Legal Services Authority conducted mobile Lok Adalat at State Bank of India, Pungro Town.  Holika Sukhalu, Chief judicial magistrate cum secretary, Kiphire DLSA was the presiding officer. Chief LADC, Ayiala Imti and Deputy LADC, Lizi Sangtam were conciliators, assisted by Pungro PLVs. A total of 13 Pre-litigation bank loan recovery cases were taken up out of which 11 cases were amicably settled with a settlement amount of Rs 17, 31,200.

Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) conducted 2nd National Lok Adalat on May 9 at District Court Dimapur, headed by the Chairman, N Longshithung Ezung, NJS and Secretary, Atoka Achumi, NJS, during the day long proceedings, 60 Bank recovery cases were settled amounting to Rs. 46,01,223 and 36 cases relating to BSNL were settled amounting to Rs. 37,988 (pre litigation cases ). Further, six cases relating to MACT were settled, amounting to Rs. 53, 30,000. The total settled 102 cases amounting to Rs. 99, 69,211.

The Zunheboto DLSA conducted 2nd Quarterly National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex . District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman ZDLSA, Phuleto Yeptho,NJS was the presiding officer. Easter H Yepthomi and Vilibo K Zhimo was the conciliator. All together 8 pre litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and 7 were disposed of with the total settlement amount of Rs 2367922 only.

Longleng DLSA conducted the 2nd Quarter National Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex, Longleng.  Kumdilong Kessen, NJS, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, LDLSA, was the Presiding Officer. Joseph Phom, Assistant Defence Counsel, DLSA, K Bongyei Phom, Retainer Lawyer, Yingloi, PL and Akongla, PL, were the conciliators. PLV Yingli was also present.

Altogether, six pre-litigation cases and one pending litigation case were taken up, out of which six cases were disposed of with a total settlement amount of Rs. 83,18,648 only.
