The Yimkhiung Union Kohima (YUK) has condemned the “shameful and inhumane act” of sexual abuse and life-threatening physical assault committed against a minor girl and other family members at Phesama village by a man on May 12 around 7:30 p.m.
The union expressed solidarity with the victim and her family and condemned this reprehensible act in the strongest possible terms.
Stating that violent misconduct against women and minor girls constitutes a serious violation of human dignity and fundamental rights, while also fostering fear, insecurity, and social unrest within the community, the Union appealed to the competent authority to take prompt and decisive legal action against the accused so that justice prevails.
The Union also called upon the society at large to stand firmly united against all forms of gender- based abuse, and to actively promote peace, justice, and a safe environment for all.
MYO:
The Merama Youth Organisation (MYO) also condemned the despicable act committed by one of its member, Seyieneiu Chütso, son of Neise Chütso on the night of May 12, where he is being accused of physical and sexual assault on three persons, one male and two females at Phesama.

In a press release, the MYO condemned the heinous act in the strongest term and urged the law enforcing agencies to deliver justice at the earliest under relevant sections of the law.
The MYO also extended its fullest cooperation and support to the Police and the Administration in the pursuit for justice to the victims.
The Organisation has resolved to banish/expel him from its jurisdiction for a period of five years, with effect from May 15 to May 15, 2031, after taking into account of the multiple offences committed by him even in the past.
The Merama Youth Organisation further extended heartfelt sympathy to the victims and their families in these difficult times and wished them a speedy recovery.
