DPDB meetings held at Longleng and Kiphire

The Longleng District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held on May 16, under the chairmanship of MLA and chairman DPDB Longleng, A Pongshi Phom.

Welcoming the MLA & Chairman DPDB and the members present, the Deputy Commissioner Longleng, W Manpai Phom, NCS, urged the concerned officers to bring forward proposals and matters pertaining to their respective departments for discussion in the forum. Stating that the monthly meeting provides the right opportunity for such deliberations, he added that issues raised could be forwarded to the government for further necessary action.

The proposed agenda for upgradation of OC Police Station Tamlu, to SDPO Tamlu was deliberated and recommended to the concerned department.  While the proposal for construction of all weathers road from Yimha Junction to Brua Namsang to foothill road Shetap Village via Apoiji was submitted by the Tamlu Public Forum, where the EAC Tamlu, Mopling N Phom, briefly highlighted the matter to the house, where the house agreed to forward the matter to the Government.

MLA & Chairman DPDB, A. Pongshi Phom, proposed to implement the DPDB meritorious award for HSLC & HSSLC topper and subject topper from both private and Govt. School starting from this year.

The chairman also suggested and informed the members to carry out a wide plantation drive for sustainable environment during the world environment day 2026. Later, the house agreed to launch a plantation drive in Longleng Town beginning from the first week of June focusing on ornamental trees.

The DC also reminded all HoDs to remain posted at their respective stations and ensure regular attendance and diligent functioning of staff. He stated that departments found inactive or showing inadequate performance would be viewed seriously and report the matter to the higher authority.

SDO Power Longleng, Moiching Shembu, presented a sensitization of Smart Metering Installation, which will be beneficial to the consumers through PowerPoint presentation.

District Soil & Conservation officer Longleng, P Angming Koyak, presented the departmental activities of the district through PowerPoint.

District Economics & Statistics Officer Longleng, Nyushotho Nyuthe, informed the house about the launching of digital registration of Adhaar for children between 0-5 years.

The chairman entrusted the Medical Department to present their activities in the next DPDB meeting. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the chairman.

Kiphire:

The District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting of Kiphire was held on May 15 at DC’s Conference Hall, Kiphire, under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire & Vice Chairman, DPDB, Temsuwati Longkumer.

DC in his opening remarks, welcomed all the members present and invited new DPDB members to introduce themselves in the meeting.

EAC Kiphire, Takatemjen Pongen, highlighted the performance of the students in the recent HSLC examination 2026 from Kiphire District. On behalf of the DPDB, he conducted a felicitation ceremony for the district topper, Lidila S Sangtam of Agape Higher Secondary School, Kiphire and presented her with a cash award and a certificate.

The Chairman then reviewed the previous meeting minutes, after which the agendas of the day were discussed and taken up.

The Proposal for Grant – in – Aid to B.C. Olive School was discussed and forwarded to the concerned department for further action.

Speaking on the National IEC Campaign in Aspirational District, EAC, Takatemjen Pongen informed the house about the upcoming nationwide IEC Campaign for mass awareness in the Aspirational District.

He informed that the Line departments including District Administration, Forest, Fisheries, Agriculture, Horticulture, Power, PHED, PWD, DLRSO, Medical, Education, Social Welfare and Rural Development will be divided into five clusters for the campaign.

The campaign will run from May 18 to 25 and would be coordinated by the DIO. In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to submit timely reports to ensure smooth execution.

The proposal for Correction of Village Name from “Pungren” to “Pongren” was also discussed and the matter was forwarded to the Government for necessary implementation.

ADC Kiphire, Longdiba L Sangtam, informed that a mass social work will be conducted across all government offices, private institutions and public areas from 06: AM onwards on 16th May 2026. He urged all members to comply with the directive on safe disposal of solid waste management.

PowerPoint presentations were made by the Department of Industrial (DIC) and the Social Welfare Department respectively. The Deputy Commissioner directed the District Sports Officer and the Education Department to present their departmental activities in the next meeting.
