Asukha K Zhimomi won the Shot Put Competition which was held at the Pochury Morung at Naga Heritage Village in Kisama at the 23rd Hornbill Festival.
11 individuals from different tribes participated in the contest. Zhimomi from Sümi tribe was adjudged the winner and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 6000.
Likho Sangma of Garo tribe got the second position while Shetha Chakhesang came third. They received Rs 4000 and Rs 2000 respectively for their feats.
Sangma had won the contest last year at the Hornbill Festival 2021.
Competitions in Naga indigenous games and sports are among the highlights of the Hornbill Festival inaugurated yesterday by the Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankar, in an impressive and lively opening ceremony.
Through such entertaining and exciting contests, this dying part of the Naga culture is being re-introduced in the Naga society.
