SDPDB Bhandari felicitates MLA & Advisor Achumbemo Kikon

The Bhandari SDPDB felicitated and congratulated MLA and Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon, for his appointment as Advisor to the Chief Minister, SCERT & Food Processing, Nagaland during its monthly meeting held on June 10.

ADC, Bhandari, Longasen Lotha, NCS who chaired the meeting in his opening remark lauded the Advisor, Achumbemo Kikon for his active role in representing the people.

Speaking at the meeting, Achumbemo emphasised on the Nagaland Foothill Road, and said that he has carried out inspection visits, and expressed satisfaction for the completed portions of the road and further reiterated that the remaining works should be executed for timely completion by adhering to the prescribed specifications and quality work.

JE Power, Bhandari, Er Mhaden Murry, highlighted that the Power Department has been carrying out sensitization programme on installation of Smart Meters within the sub-division, and further informed that more initiatives are underway to educate the public regarding benefits of the smart meter system. He further stated that additional manpower is required for maintenance of uninterrupted power supply.

Dr Kikali G Sumi, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (VAS) & Quarantine Check Post, Merapani, said that the department has been conducting house to house surveillance including sample collection and testing of African Swine Fever (AFS) in pigs at the sub-division level, and informed that no cases of the ASF has been found or reported from any area of the sub-division till the day.

Enlightening the house on centrally sponsored, National Livestock Mission and Livestock Insurance Scheme, she stressed that Livestock insurance as a Scheme, provides financial protection to owners of animals against death, loss or damage from specified risks, and helps farmers to access loan facilities from banks by ensuring their Livestock against loss.

SDO (Civil) Ralan, Tsenthungo E Ngullie informed that a Police Outpost is urgently required at Tchujanphen Village, Ralan area, while the SDPO Bhandari, R Philips Yanthan informed that Bhandari Police is also in need of a permanent Police Station at Champang, which covers around 18 villages and is situated at the State Border area.

The house deliberated on the performance of the government schools within the sub-division with special reference to class 10 and class 12 results 2026. In this regard, Achumbemo advised the schools that had performed poorly and cautioned them not to compromise with responsibilities as teachers are responsible to guide the students.

The house decided that starting from the present academic year, the district administration will pay monitoring visits to government schools to check the performance of the teachers and students’ progress to yield better results.
