Yakor village declared as ‘Drugs and Alcohol-free Zone’

The Yimkhiung Youth Organization has declared Yimkhiung land as “Land of Drugs Free Zone” and this has been endorsed to all the Village Council to implement accordingly. The Yakor Village Council under Shamator District has passed the Resolution in the general meeting in January 2026 declaring Yakor Village as Drugs and Alcohol-free Zone.

On June 11,  “No to Drugs and Alcohol” program was organised by Citizen Union with all the stakeholders/union under Yakor Village.

Advisor Citizen Union, Apong Janger delivering the keynote address, expressed gratitude to the Village Council, Students Union, Mothers Union and the Church for coming together and standing firm in their resolution. He also requested all citizens to abide by the village unanimous decision and lead by example, reaching to the rest of the fellow community.

He further appealed all villages under Yimkhiungland to adopt the resolution to make their homeland free from Drugs, Alcohol and Tobaccos.

Earlier the program was chaired by H Yankiumong President Citizen Union, Short speeches were delivered by Yakor Village Council, Yakor Baptist Church, YLASA Yakor, NVG and YSU. The program concluded with the Slogan “No to drugs and alcohol.”
