The Sumi Totimi Hoho (STH) has strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl in Dimapur stating that violence against women is a heinous crime and a gross violation of human dignity that must be met with the full force of the law.
However, it commended the courage of the victim and her family for coming forward in pursuit of justice. It urged the law enforcement agencies and all concerned authorities to conduct a thorough, impartial, transparent, and uncompromising investigation into the case and ensure that justice is delivered without delay.
The Sumi Totimi Hoho demanded that appropriate legal action be taken against the accused, O Wati Meren Jamir, Tsuktimongba Ao and Akangkokba, GB of Unger Village.

“It is particularly disturbing that a person entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding and protecting members of the community is alleged to have failed in upholding his duty. Such a breach of trust undermines public confidence and must be addressed with utmost seriousness under the law,” it said.
Expressing solidarity with the victim and her family, the Sumi Totimi Hoho expressed assured them that they are not alone in their pursuit of justice.
The Hoho reiterated its commitment to the protection of women and children and called upon all citizens, community leaders, civil society organizations, and institutions to work together in safeguarding the rights, dignity, and future of every child.
