The District Administration Shamator and NCORD Shamator, in collaboration with F.R.E.E. Riders Club, Shamator, flagged off a 10-day awareness campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) at Shamator June 16.
The programme was graced by Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, NCORD Shamator, Arikumba, NCS, as the Special Guest and flagged off the awareness bike rally. The program was chaired by EAC Shamator, Mekato J Aye, NCS.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and stressed the need for sustained efforts to combat drug abuse and build a healthier society. He also spoke on the dangers of substance abuse and called upon citizens, particularly the youth, to actively contribute towards creating a drug-free district and nation.

Delivering the keynote address, SDO (Civil), Shamator, Athrong, highlighted the various activities undertaken under NCORD and NMBA over the years and outlined the awareness programmes planned for 2026 campaign. He emphasized the importance of collective responsibility and community participation in addressing the menace of substance abuse.
A vote of thanks was delivered by Renchano Odyuo, DPO, Shamator, while the invocation and prayer of blessing was offered by Inavi Aye, Pastor, Sumi Baptist Church, Shamator Town. Following the flag-off, members of the F.R.E.E. Riders Club and officials of the District Administration visited various schools in Shamator, where awareness messages on the ill effects of drug abuse, informed decision-making and healthy lifestyles were shared with students. The team encouraged students to become ambassadors of a drug-free society within their schools and communities. The awareness rally proceeded through major routes of Shamator town carrying messages promoting a drug-free society and responsible living.
