DC Zunheboto announces security measures for counting of votes

Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Dharam Raj, IAS, has issued an order outlining strict security and conduct guidelines for the counting of votes for the Atoizu Town Council Ward-9 by-election, scheduled to be held on June 19 at 8 a.m. at the District Civil Supply Office, Zunheboto. The counting date is in line with the election programme announced by the Nagaland State Election Commission.

According to the order, entry into the counting hall will be restricted to candidates, their election agents, and counting agents possessing valid identity cards issued by the Returning Officer. Government officials, counting personnel, and other authorized persons will also be permitted entry. The use or carrying of mobile phones inside the counting hall has been strictly prohibited.

The district administration has directed candidates and their supporters to maintain peace and order during and after the counting process. Activities such as sloganeering, rallies, processions, and any form of noise or disturbance within and around the counting venue have been banned.

The order further warns against intimidation, provocation, teasing, or any action that may disturb rival candidates and their supporters. Violators will face legal action under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The administration has appealed to all stakeholders to cooperate in ensuring a peaceful, transparent, and orderly counting process.
