Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Nagaland, S Supongmeren Jamir, has sought urgent restoration of Air India Express services connecting Bengaluru-Kolkata-Guwahati-Dimapur-Imphal.

In a letter to the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, the Member of Parliament highlighted that the Delhi–Kolkata–Guwahati–Dimapur Air India Express service has remained suspended for nearly one year, causing immense inconvenience to travellers from Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur.

Jamir further pointed out that from August 1, 2026, Air India Express has also discontinued its Bengaluru–Kolkata–Guwahati–Dimapur service, further reducing air connectivity to the Northeast and placing an additional burden on students, patients, business travellers, government officials, and the general public.

The MP urged the Ministry of Civil Aviation to take immediate steps to reintroduce the suspended Air India Express routes or facilitate operations by another airline on the same sector connecting Bengaluru, Kolkata, Guwahati, Dimapur, and Imphal.

He emphasized that restoring these services would significantly ease travel for citizens across the three Northeastern states and strengthen regional connectivity.

Appealing on humanitarian grounds, Jamir requested the Union Civil Aviation Minister to accord the matter top priority and ensure the earliest possible restoration of the affected air services in the larger public interest.
