EAC Shamator and Charge Officer, Census Circle, Mekato J Aye, NCS, conducted a consultative meeting and sensitisation programme with village functionaries under Thsotoku Census Circle in preparation for Census 2027.
The meeting witnessed participation from village functionaries representing all villages under the Census Circle. The programme aimed to sensitise stakeholders on the importance of the upcoming Census, clarify doubts relating to the digital enumeration process, and discuss the roles and responsibilities of village authorities during the conduct of Census operations.
Addressing the gathering, Aye highlighted the significance of Census as a vital exercise for planning, policy formulation, and equitable development. He elaborated on the transition to digital Census operations and stressed the need for cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely data collection. Village functionaries were encouraged to assist Supervisors and Enumerators in the preparation of maps, identification of households, and facilitation of field-level activities as per the prescribed guidelines. The participants were briefed on various case studies and practical aspects of Census implementation.

An awareness session on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was also conducted, during which participants were sensitised on the importance of maintaining accurate electoral records and encouraged to disseminate awareness within their respective villages regarding voter registration, correction of entries, and electoral participation.
The meeting concluded with an interactive session during which queries raised by the participants were addressed and clarifications provided regarding both Census procedures and electoral roll revision activities.
