Only LMVs and passenger-carrying vehicles permitted over Dikhu River Bailey Bridge

In view of the dilapidated condition of Dikhu River Bailey Bridge on NH-202 (Mokokchung-Tuensang Road), Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS said that only light motor vehicles (LMVs) and passenger-carrying vehicles would be permitted to ply across the bridge until further orders.

According to the order issued by the Deputy Commissioner, all heavy vehicles  transporting goods have been advised to use alternative routes until the bridge is fully repaired and certified safe for heavy vehicular movement.

The alternative routes suggested are:

  1. Mokokchung—Longmisa—Dikhu—Alisophur—Tronger—Tuensang.
  2. Tuensang—Chare—Mokokchung.
  3. Suruhoto—Akuluto—Lumami—Mokokchung.

However, in the event of any emergency or exigency, permission to allow the movement of heavy vehicles across the bridge may be obtained from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung.
